Useless things you really want

HI:

A chauffeur.

cheer--Sharon

A painting by Robert Cardinal or Edward Hopper. We cannot afford a Hopper but we can afford a Cardinal and I *think* we may be buying one if the painting we want is still available at the art gallery! :appl:

Oh and I totally agree with the Chauffeur wish Sharon- that has been at the top of my wish list for years! :wavey:

Just for you, Zoe-a creepy blurry-faced kid and 2 WITTLE MINI HORSIES! :cheeky: The one has blue eyes!!!

A Balenciaga handbag, even though I never spend a lot of money on bags, ever. For some reason, I'm really drawn to them, even though I think it's a waste of money.
Laila, if it helps to get Balenciaga off your wish list, I have had two in the last three years that have developed cracks in their leather. I'm not hard on my bags, but I do expect a bag that expensive and of a casual design to be able to take some periods of daily wear. I've heard their quality is not what it used to be, and I've given up on them.

Oh, that's a shame mrs. jam! You must be disappointed. Good to know though, thanks.

What a great picture, T2! They're so cute. Thanks!

I want a library. No, seriously. With a fireplace, a huge wingback chair with a comfy blanket, a little table with a tiffany style lamp, and ladders. I don't care if the ladders are to no where, but it needs rolling ladders. And maybe a murphy bed, so we can have some guests too.

My fantasy house has one of these libraries, complete with rolling ladders!

Libraries with fireplace, wingback chairs, blankets and a cup of tea are not useless! Wrong thread!

I want a Tiffany & Co. charm to attach to the zipper pull on my wallet. The particular charm I want is white gold and also has diamonds on it. I'm not really a necklace or charm bracelet type of girl, but for some reason I want this charm for my zipper. Totally frivolous and unneccessary, I know - but those are the most fun purchases!

Yes, not useless! ..and I'm so glad I saw this, because I would love a library described just like this! I'm thinking of a library from Edith Wharton's world-ahhh!

LOVING the fact that I'm not the only nerd :D This has been one of my dreams, for I can't even tell you how long.

I want a SimpleHuman trash can with the lid that s-l-o-w-l-y closes! Not completely useless but a lot of money to spend for a trash can.

I'm betting if I don't get one I'll be buying myself one - kids are always saying I'm hard to buy for and yet when you tell them this they make a face at you - ha!

I had saved a picture of the perfect library in my computer - double height ceilings, huge bookshelves, rolling steps to reach those high books, wood paneling, a gorgeous piano, cozy chairs and floor to ceiling windows on on one wall, overlooking a beautiful beach. Since I can't find, I will have to make do with this bedroom - note the bookshelves under the window.

A Vitamix!

A LIBRARY! Yes!

I've been trying to convince DH to turn our living room into a library since day 1. It really would be so lovely, and I already use it as my reading room and Book Club meeting space, so . . . seems like the perfect plan to me.

He thinks a library in the middle of our open layout floor plan would be weird. I think it would be perfect.

A ranch full of Papillon puppies that I could roll around and snuggle with endlessly. I suspect that my husband, two cats & CURRENT Pap would get a smidge jealous though.

I'd also buy everyone in the world a set of fleece sheets from The Company Store. It's like sleeping between Teddy Bear butt cheeks. (In a good way).

More shoes. I saw 2 more pairs of Manolo Blahniks that I want-so much so that I was talking in my sleep to my husband last night that I was on holidays in New York and I was buying them in Barneys :cheeky: I really don't need more shoes but they're beautiful.

Seriously, that made me laugh so hard!!!!!!!! Thanks for making my day just a smidge better!

Haven, if it makes you feel any better, I think you can totally make a library/living room/open floor plan work. And very appropriate for you too.

Oooh, Dani, tell me why I want it from your point of view! I'm always looking for support - ha! I see that they make a hard vinyl one too which is much less $$. I just love that I wouldn't have to handle the trashcan - and that slow closing lid   !

.... i have one too. The half circle one like http://www.google.com/products/cata...=X&ei=yD_xTrD0DonZ0QHq0-CRAg&ved=0CLwBEPMCMAM. Felt like a dope buying it but haven't regretted it!

OMG, we have this one: http://www.zappos.com/simplehuman-38l-rectangular-deluxe-step-can-next-gen-stainless-steel

And we really love it!!! Not only does it look sharp, but I just adore how slowly it closes and there is even a switch that can be used to prop the top wide open for longer intervals, which is especially nice to be able to use when your cooking, cleaning, etc. Everyone who visits our home always makes a comment about how awesome this thing is!!! Best $150 I ever spent!!

That's why I always stop short because it's so much money for a TRASHCAN but I just love the whole concept! Thanks for your vote of confidence . . . I think I'm gonna have to do it!!

My sister has an infrared trash can on that opens and closes with hand motions. It also can stay open for cooking/cleaning etc. It TOTALLY ROCKS! We have our trash under the sink, but if we had a trash can location, I'd totally get a "talking" trash can like she has.

Simple Human sells one with the sensor that opens automatically but supposedly isn't sensitive to someone just walking by it! I think I'd just be afraid that somewhere down the line that would malfunction and the lid would open and close all the time! Probably not but it sort of freaks you out! It is way cool though - makes you wonder what's next?!?!?
