I have been a member with USAA for years. I read this post below and was wondering what other experiences people may have had. USAA is a members only website but has a large selection.

https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/does-this-usaa-site-have-competitive-prices.13951/=

Every diamond (300+ ) I have seen on their site has a GIA or AGS cert. No real price difference from any of the vendor''s listed on pricescope.com. They do have a 12-month financing program and an 100% trade-in value upgrade policy so they are top notch from a service standpoint.

Any other experiences?

I too am a USAA member and have looked there. My guess is that you will find few ideal cut stones on USAA. If you''re looking for VG cuts, I think you would probably do fine on USAA and the free 12-month financing is a great deal. Good luck.

every two months USAA sends another diamond catalog to me. now they advertise that they have the better - ideal cut diamonds. I would definitely give them a call.

My dad was a member so now I am too. When I was looking for my upgrade (large stone) I did call them. They had one stone that sounded really great, but it was very expensive. Also, my current ring was lovely and I wanted to sell it or trade it, and to do it through USAA would have meant sending it insured to them, letting them take it apart, give me a price, etc...so it was too involved to do that. BUT, they are a great company overall, so as long as you know the specs and can see the stone, I think it is worth looking into.

Thanks for the posts! USAA has been a wonderful comany for me for everything else. I am in Texas so I wouldn't benefit from the sales tax break though.

I still feel strongly that a diamond is too personal an item to shop for online. Since they are all different, I just feel like it's something you gotta search for. (It's like buying a child off the internet.

just kidding...I get mine at the supermarket like everyone else.)

I haven't made my mind up on the internet route yet or not but I am impressed wth www.jamesallen.com site. I wish more sites could and would do this. Being able to see the inclusions before you order off the net is very nice. I am the kind of person who would order, return, order, return....etc until I found the right one. There isn't a good way to compare them unless you have one on hand to compare it too. I am looking in the VS2-SI2 range and the inclusions can be anywhere. USAA does send you a loup though...that's nice.

i am sure you could journey to san antonio to see the diamnds. make an appointment!
