HI from Melbourne Australia

I have just had my fiance-to-be's engagement ring made by a local jeweller.

I have specified I want an EXACT copy of the Tiffany (traditional 6 prong setting) and have gone to great lengths to point out what bits are important to me to be the same

i viewed the almost completed ring with the diamond sitting "unset" in the setting, and was surprised to see daylight between the inside of the claws and the edges of the diamond....

I have not noticed this is any of the the genuine Tiffany rings I have viewed, and am concerned it detracts from the ring.

I am no expert in ring making, but it almost seems like the setting is too big or too deep for the diamond size.

the diamond is a 1.3 carat size, triple excellent, F colour, SI1. So certainly not a small stone, but not huge.

PLEASE tell me this is normal, and that "The Tiffany" also has this feature.

for what its worth the ring was supposedly hand made, and not cast.

thanks for your help
