Hi Folks,

I was wondering if any of you experts can help me choose one of the following 2 stones:

Stone 1:
1.45 ct Round HCA 0.5
Ideal
F
VS2
Depth: 60.5
Table: 56
Crown: 34
Pav: 40.6
Grid: Thin - Sl Thick
Pol: Vg
Sym: Ex
Cutlet: None

Stone 2:
1.46 ct Round HCA 0.9
Ideal
G
VS1
Depth: 59.9
Table: 58
Crown: 33.5
Pav: 40.8
Gri: Med - Sl Thick
Pol: Ex
Sym: Ex
Cutlet: None

Any help would be really appreciated.

I think this information is not enough.
IdealScope pictures could help us to choose the right one.

If I had to make a blind buy, I would take the 1.46.
40.8 is a good pavilion angle, polish and spread are better.
But on both diamonds, I don't like the sl. thick girdle (but it isn't a big issue).

Thanks Stephan. The 1.46 stone is from Bluenile. Do they provide Idealscope image? If not where would I find one?

I don''t think they do.
What are the star and lower girdle lengths for each stone?
Any comments in the comments part?
Fluorescence?

BN can''t provide IS image. Why don''t you use a vendor that provides one? Tell us your budget and specs and we can try to find one that fits them.

Perhaps other sellers like Whiteflash have access to the same diamonds, even if they are not on their listing.
Just ask them.
They will provide you all the pictures needed.

Stephan,

I am sorry. The 1.45 one is Medium Faceted and 1.46 has Med - Sl Thick with 3.0%. Thats all the info I have from the website.

Thanks.

But I still prefer the second one.
And the certificate is newer.
I guess it will sell quickly.

I was more inclined towards the first one because of the F Color. I am just little sceptical about the HCA = 0.5 as it might have contrast issues.

Also, I came across the following stone on BN. Could you tell me how would this perform? Thanks again for all your help.

Stone 3:
1.47 ct Round HCA 0.9
Ideal
F
VS2
Depth: 60.7
Table: 56
Crown: 33.5
Pav: 41.0
Grid: Thin - Med
Pol: Ex
Sym: Ex
Cutlet: None
Flor: None

I don''t think so, it can happen on much more extreme cases, not on a 34/40.6 combo with such a nice upper/lower girdle combo.

The third diamond you mentioned should be very nice too but I''m not fan of 41 pavilion
Without pictures, I still prefer nr 2.

Cool. So how big of an issue is the Med - sl thick griddle on No.2? Also apart from the old certificate thing, would you still consider No.1?
Thanks.

I didn''t compare the prices.
Do you feel comfortable with "only" VG polish?
Med - Sl thick is not a big issue, you could have even more spread with a Thin - Med girdle, that''s it. And your diamond won''t chip when the girdle is thick enough.

Another thing you have to understand is that color is very subjective.
- I had a J diamond recut by EightStar and it came back as a K.
- Paul (Antwerp) cut a diamond for a customer. Before sending it to GIA, he thought it was a H, but it came back as a F if I remember well.
When a nicely cut diamond doesn''t sell, it can also be because of the GIA color grade that is to high.
If you want to be sure, pay for an appraisal.

Coz I heard people saying that if the griddle is thick, carat wt. is wasted. My friends said VG polish is OK too. Does it really make a lot of diff?

Also, for the prices:

Stone 1: 10,900
Stone 2: 11,200
Stone 3: 12,000

Yes, that is what I call the spread issue, but nr 2 has a very good spread.

No, but it''s still on the paper.

Now nr 2 is just my personal preference.
You may want to wait some experts chime in.
And without pictures, this is only a gamble.

The problem is I cannot have the pics from BN, unless I buy it with a 30 day money garuntee and appraise it later on. Is their any way I can get the pics?

Thanks

I''m sure Whiteflash can show you those diamonds.
Even if not on their list, they could call on those diamonds.
Oh, and they take very accurate pictures, believe me.

Everyone posted are ones I wouldn''t buy without images and in person inspections.
1 holds promise but it needs to be checked for contrast issues.

3 and 4 are good combos also but need a IS image to check the pavilion angles and lower girdles are going to work ok. Rounded averages arent good enough.

2 has potential but is a bit of an oddball. I would want it checked out.
IS image at the least.
