Hi, I am having a very difficult time making a choice between these 2 diamonds. I understand that EGL is more lenient in terms of their grading and that is why I'm torn between these 2 choices. I would really appreciate some expert advice since I have to make a decision today. So please give me detailed replies asap. Thank you very much in advance.

At this point the most important thing to me is light scintillation because I really want to avoid light leakage. I hate that "icy" appearance that some diamonds have. So what is the most important factor that effect 'sparkle' other than cut?

Diamond #1:
Certification: GIA
Carats: 1.00
Price: $2877
Cut Very Good
Color J
Clarity VS1
Polish Excellent
Symmetry Very Good
Fluorescence None
Table % 64%
Depth % 67.2%
Culet None
Girdle Medium to Very Thick
LxW Ratio 1.01
Measurements 5.77mm x 5.70mm x 3.83mm

Diamond #2:

Certification: EGL
Carats: 1.03
Price: $3100
Cut: Haven't received information yet.
Color G
Clarity SI1
Polish Excellent
Symmetry Excellent
Fluorescence None
Table % 62%
Depth % 68.7%
Culet Pointed

Measurements 5.81mm x 5.62mm x 3.86mm

Pictures. Need pictures.

I unfortunately don't have pictures of both diamonds. Is this the only way to tell the difference, will the difference be visible to the naked eye?

Can't tell conclusively but what we do know... assuming it is EGL-USA (it will be different if EGL-International).

Diamond #1 and Diamond #2 is probably close in color. EGL-USA G is likely a I/J although can be an H.
Diamond #2 is more included than Diamond #1. EGL-USA SI1 can be a GIA SI1 or SI2.
Diamond #2 has a bit smaller table than Diamond #1 which I like more.

But none of this really helps much. We need photos, plot patterns, etc.

I was able to obtain pictures of the GIA diamond, but I cannot get pictures of the EGL. I'm not sure if this helps at all?

+1 :appl:

That JA stone is great wonder what the ASET looks like. Face up that would look huge with it less than 1ct. measurments of 1.25ish.

Have you seen these diamonds? I would NEVER buy a diamond that I haven't seen first especially with cushions as their plot patterns vary.

Absolutely. I did not really like the facet pattern on the one posted, although the outer shape is nice. There's no way to comment on the other one without pictures.

I also agree that you'd need to ask for the ASET on the James Allen stone, but it has a lot of potential from the photo.

Just chiming in because we did months of cushion cut shopping... You need to see cushions.. There is so much variation that it is impossible to make a choice on a cushion cut diamond without seeing them, either in good close-up photos, or in person.. Even more so if you are considering EGL-USA stones. I would caution you against making any hasty choices without seeing the diamonds.

I think it is possible to find a lovely EGL-USA stone, but it takes more even more focus and investigation. You absolutely need to see them rather then trusting a certificate or specs.
