ple weeks ago with some questions about side stone matching and about appraisers etc, but here is a little recap...
I wanted to use the current stones in my three stone ring to make a killer (in my mind!) graduated eternity band. My center stone is a 1.2 RB J/SI2 (with a rather large table) and the two side stones *I thought* were about .5''s. I would be adding two .75''s to put in between those and the shank of the ring would be .25''s.![]()
I had the stones taken out of the setting they were in to have them appraised so I could be more accurate with choosing new .75''s and I sure am glad that I did!
My center stone was pretty right on to the description of the original cert. I was very nervous though because the original is an IGI from nearly ten years ago. The table came in a bit smaller too, 68% as opposed to 71%, so that was good news (I know it''s still large but I have chosen to keep it for sentimental reasons). I was really afraid that the color was going to turn out to be a K instead of the J that was stated but I was told it was actually a very high J, meaning very close to I. This was also good news because I wanted to look for I stones to match...
Turns out I was totally off on the side stones however...
One of the side stones that I currently have was given to me by my mother when I was 16 and I quess you could say she isn''t the most detail oriented person, lol, but one of the sweetest ladies ever! My husband had found a matching stone so I could have a three stone ring and he also thought it was around a .5ct. Funny thing is is when he bought the matching stone he thought he was buying a stone that was just over .5 because there was a slight difference in size. He swears that when he bought it they told him it was something like .54... but it''s no matter really because he bought it for a steal!
The side stones, when appraised actually weighed in at .33 and .37! A little off, I know, but I really wasn''t too disappointed. I was told that the .33 was an F/VS1 and the .37 an F/VVS2, yay!! No wonder why I thought my J could be a K, all these years I''d been looking at in next to F''s, duh! And like I said, DH bought that .37 for a STEAL so I was actually super happy!
Anyway, knowing what I did I knew those beautiful little buggers would not work with the setting that I wanted so Mr.7''s and I talked it over and he told me I could also look for .5''s that would match in the dream ring that I wanted to make! Isn''t he the greatest,

It also meant that I had a tougher job trying to find 4 stones that would at least compliment my center stone and stay in the exact measurements that I wanted to have that graduated effect.
To try and make a long story short I am still working with Whiteflash and Jamie has been the sweetest to work with! I received my quote (even though I didn''t have 4 of the 5 main stones for the ring!) and just yesterday I got word that the 4 diamonds I have been searching for are available!!! YAY!

I''m so excited, but I''m super nervous too! A good nervous though, lol! I still can''t believe things are falling into place, it almost too good to be true!!
For those that have helped me with my tedious questions, thank you! I can''t even begin to tell you how much the advise has helped. PS has really helped me to figure out what was really important to me so I would end up with a ring that I will want to keep forever! And sorry if this was a ton of info at once, but I just had to share.
I will post details of the new stones a little later, but here is a pic of the ring I am looking to achieve.
