ple weeks ago with some questions about side stone matching and about appraisers etc, but here is a little recap...

I wanted to use the current stones in my three stone ring to make a killer (in my mind!
9.gif
) graduated eternity band. My center stone is a 1.2 RB J/SI2 (with a rather large table) and the two side stones *I thought* were about .5''s. I would be adding two .75''s to put in between those and the shank of the ring would be .25''s.

I had the stones taken out of the setting they were in to have them appraised so I could be more accurate with choosing new .75''s and I sure am glad that I did!

My center stone was pretty right on to the description of the original cert. I was very nervous though because the original is an IGI from nearly ten years ago. The table came in a bit smaller too, 68% as opposed to 71%, so that was good news (I know it''s still large but I have chosen to keep it for sentimental reasons). I was really afraid that the color was going to turn out to be a K instead of the J that was stated but I was told it was actually a very high J, meaning very close to I. This was also good news because I wanted to look for I stones to match...

Turns out I was totally off on the side stones however...

One of the side stones that I currently have was given to me by my mother when I was 16 and I quess you could say she isn''t the most detail oriented person, lol, but one of the sweetest ladies ever! My husband had found a matching stone so I could have a three stone ring and he also thought it was around a .5ct. Funny thing is is when he bought the matching stone he thought he was buying a stone that was just over .5 because there was a slight difference in size. He swears that when he bought it they told him it was something like .54... but it''s no matter really because he bought it for a steal!

The side stones, when appraised actually weighed in at .33 and .37! A little off, I know, but I really wasn''t too disappointed. I was told that the .33 was an F/VS1 and the .37 an F/VVS2, yay!! No wonder why I thought my J could be a K, all these years I''d been looking at in next to F''s, duh! And like I said, DH bought that .37 for a STEAL so I was actually super happy!

Anyway, knowing what I did I knew those beautiful little buggers would not work with the setting that I wanted so Mr.7''s and I talked it over and he told me I could also look for .5''s that would match in the dream ring that I wanted to make! Isn''t he the greatest,
4.gif
!!! That means (down the road of course
9.gif
, I can''t get too carried away!) that I have these two little loose beauties to do something with!!!!!

It also meant that I had a tougher job trying to find 4 stones that would at least compliment my center stone and stay in the exact measurements that I wanted to have that graduated effect.

To try and make a long story short I am still working with Whiteflash and Jamie has been the sweetest to work with! I received my quote (even though I didn''t have 4 of the 5 main stones for the ring!) and just yesterday I got word that the 4 diamonds I have been searching for are available!!! YAY!
36.gif

I''m so excited, but I''m super nervous too! A good nervous though, lol! I still can''t believe things are falling into place, it almost too good to be true!!

For those that have helped me with my tedious questions, thank you! I can''t even begin to tell you how much the advise has helped. PS has really helped me to figure out what was really important to me so I would end up with a ring that I will want to keep forever! And sorry if this was a ton of info at once, but I just had to share.

I will post details of the new stones a little later, but here is a pic of the ring I am looking to achieve.

Wow!! Its going to be fabulous!!

Aw, thanks Maisie, your so sweet! I am really excited!
I actually went to reply to you a while ago (but then the phone rang) and you had a different pretty flower in your avatar! You''re making me wish for spring, lol, but I love it!

wow, that''s gonna be some serious bling!!! looking forward to pics of the finished ring

Oh yeah, these are the links to the 4 new stones I will be adding. Spoke to Jamie, she''s so sweet, and the stones should arrive tomorrow, YAY!

Now I know that these are not ideal cut diamonds but I did have to choose stones that would compliment the center, hence the larger tables, but I have been more than assured that they should work very well with my center and the look that I want.

The graduated effect will measure 6.8mm in the center to 6mm to 5mm to about 4mm for the finish!

Hehehe!!! Thanks elle!

Really, that''s just super news, and I know WF will take good care of you, and turn out a stunner of a ring. And you better buy some new Rhinestone encrusted shades to go with missy, you''re going to need them!

It''s going to be beautiful, I can''t wait to see it!!!! The stones you picked out are awesome!

Ellen, I''m so glad you responded! Thank you for being so happy for me, and thank you for following my little saga over the past couple weeks, you are such a doll!

I really am very giddy over all this! It is just turning out to be more than I could have possibly imagined! Not to mention I get to keep my two little loose pretties for future use, what a bonus! I feel like someone should pinch me and wake me up or something... I take that back.

I had taken some pics of the loose stones but I''m having trouble posting them. Just for fun I''ll do it a little later though!

Thank you so much kcoursolle! My fingers are still crossed that they get the WF seal of approval once they come in tomorrow, but I am very optimistic!

Thanks Coati! I''m not really thinking about it yet, and certainly not bringing it up to Mr.7''s anytime soon, lol!
I think I will give him a rest for a little while, he certainly deserves it!

Although I have always wanted a mothers ring!

plenty of time for that

(whispers) a mother's ring would be awesome!!

*sigh* the stones you chose are such beauties!

ps you have a really sweet hubby!

Thanks Coati, I can't wait to see them! I couldn't be happier with the dimensions!

Diamonds are actually my birthstone and two of my children were born in March, my second son was born in August so I thought a nice 5 stone ring would be pretty... Peridot in the center, diamonds on the side, and Aqua's on the ends...

...in a trellis setting...

...and I said I wasn't thinking about it!

ETA... and thank you, my hubby really is a darling. He has been so wonderful throughout this whole process you can't even imagine. He is the type of guy that likes to give jewelery as a surprise so he was a bit apprehensive in the beginning when I told him I wanted to design the ring and be apart of the process. I know that was hard for him because apart of him felt like it wasn't coming from him, which is so not true! He has said that he just wants me to be happy and that means so much more to me than the actual ring.

That is wonderful that you have found your sidestones! My husband has learned over the years that surprises make me less happy than picking out exactly what I want! You just have to alter their thinking a bit!

They are cut with larger tables than their in-house stones, but they will have a similar "look" to your center stone with the larger tables.

My husband is the super romantic type, lol! Me, not so much I hate to admit! He was also a little surprised that I didn''t want a solitaire (right now!
31.gif
) and that idea took a some getting used to for him too, especially since it was what I wanted to begin with and changed my mind several times! It just makes me so much more happier that he is genuinely happy for me!

This is why it took a little longer to find these stones. I really wanted to stay in the 60/60 range since that would be the absolute closest I could get to my center and still get a decent cut, but it was more important that the dimensions be where I wanted for the graduated effect. It was pretty difficult to find 2 sets of matching stones that met all that criteria and Jamie must have called on dozens! I really don''t think I will notice the difference in the tables at all.

Once WF gets them (one is arriving today and the other 3 tomorrow
36.gif
) They will just verify that they are eye clean and are what I have been looking for! Can''t wait!

Just for fun I thought I would post pics of the loose stones! I love the way my center stone came out in these, I''m not the best photographer!
