Hey ladies! Madelise has asked me to post an update for you all on her behalf.

She is not yet engaged. She is unable to post on PS at the moment as she is still on a little trip celebrating their anniversary. She does not think the ring is with them on the trip and does not think she will be getting engaged over the weekend.

The meteor shower rained out last night and they couldn't see anything. They are going to try again tonight but it's forecasted to rain again. I assure you from her pictures that she seems to be having a wonderful time!

She'll be back soon and will give a more detailed update for you all then.

Thanks for the update audball, I was hoping that another LIW would pass a message on! Inconvenient rain timing, I hope it clears off for tonight. How lovely and romantic to be on an anniversary trip - proposal or not! Very glad to hear that a good time is being had!

PS. DUST to Andrew!

Thanks for the update, aud! I'm sad to hear the weather spoiled their plans, but hopefully she still has a wonderful anniversary weekend.

That stinks about the rain, but I am happy to hear she's having a good time!

I finally have a happy update on my end (well, mostly happy!)

Here's the bad: I was supposed to see SO last weekend, but I was put on a huge project that destroyed the entire weekend. SO was supposed to come see me this weekend, but he got a mountain of work dropped in his lap on Friday afternoon. So we haven't seen each other since maybe the end of October? It stinks. In a way, I'm glad we're both working in the same incredibly demanding field, because we understand the sacrifices that must be made. I think if only one of us were doing this job, the one on the outside would think "There is no way you really have to do *that* much work, and you must just not want to come to see me." But we really do *that* much work, and I'm thankful that there is no judgment or resentment between the two of us because of it.

Here's the flippin awesome: On Thursday night, SO said that he almost had enough money to get a ring and that he had been looking at diamonds all day! :appl:  :appl: (My response was SQUEEEEEEEEEEEE!) Normally I'm the one sending him links to diamonds (like the crazy, diamond obsessed person that I am), so for him to be proactive is a pretty big shift. I'm still not expecting a proposal for a while but am over the moon that he's decided to start looking on his own. He's obviously been paying attention too -- he knows that I like Brian Gavin's rounds (I have earrings and a necklace from BGD) and GOG's AVCs. He hasn't been paying THAT much attention though, because he goes, "Man, Brian Gavin doesn't have any AVCs right now. He must have sold out!" I told him he should probably try GOG if he wanted one of those...

hehheh. Isn't that the most exciting!!!!?!? When they are actively looking for stuff *without* prompting from us? Good for him! Just needs to a little bit more research now...hehe. How exciting!!! I hope you guys are able to hang out more this holiday...work is no fun!

Hello,

Thanks Aud, for updating for me :)

My trip was very shortlived. We headed out late Thursday evening, and passed through our usual viewing area in the desert around 1AM, right aroung the Gemenids peak. It was raining, and the clouds and fog were very thick ;( so we couldn't see anything in the sky let alone 10 feet ahead of us! We checked into our hotel, and luckily, got a free upgrade to a suite with a view of the strip  I only paid $60 for the room! We spent Friday indulging sweets, shopping, and we watched the Variety Show at Planet Hollywood. The talents were amazing! The host, something Eastwood, played an electric keyboard with bouncing balls! He played Fur Elise, some Adele, Britney, Lady Gaga-- it was SOOO COOL! We headed out right after, and attempted to catch the meteor shower on our drive back. This time, the weather was worse. At one point, it was snowing! The fog was so thick, we couldn't see ahead of us at all! I was soooo scared we might have to spend the night on the highway. Thank God the snow/fog area was contained, and we were able to slowly drive out and continue on home.

So no meteor shower,
no proposal.

Oh, my story sounded so friendly and happy. Not so. I almost cried, and we got into a little spat over the non-proposal. <^>

Beyond that, we've planned a trip to FL to visit my dad halfway (he's coming in from the east coast of South America) for the end of March, my birthday weekend during spring break. :)) And we've got NYE planned out-- we'll be back in Vegas with my girlfriends! I'm just trying to focus on happy stuff, and try to not get (more) resentful about the stupid proposal formality.

LKTX -- how exciting for you!! Him researching diamonds is a huge step! Hah, I think that's so silly that he was confusing the source of the AV line, lololol!! That's too stinkin' cute. ******DUST***** that he gets a move on it!

I'm sorry your trip didn't go as well as planned, madelise. On the plus side, woo hoo for a room upgrade! That's always a bonus! And I'm glad you guys didn't have to spend the night on the highway due to the weather.

How exciting to go to Florida and visit your dad. South America, wow~! What brings him up to the states? That's wonderful you'll have a chance to visit, and also spending NYE in Vegas. I've never been (well, once when I was 6, my dad was on a business trip. Vegas is soooooo lame to a six year old! lol)

Props to you for trying to stay positive. We all know how hard that can be, especially after an anniversary/special weekend planned, etc.
Last year, M got me tickets to Blue Man group for after the holidays. He also booked a night at a beautiful hotel in downtown Chicago. I kept thinking "omg omg omg, could THIS be it?" But no. I was so disappointed. So, I know how you're feeling right now.

***hugs***

Yay, congrats to A's graduation, Audball!! :appl:
more dust his way for his job interviews!!!!!!

MBKRH: It's no biggy, the weekend has now officially passed, and I don't dwell :)) My dad comes up to the states to visit his friend in FL. I'm almost 25 years old, and he has never come up to CA to visit me, since I was 3. I'm not that interested in him, but I feel like, what if I miss this opportunity, then never get to see him? I'm making a vacation out of it, though. I've been dying to go to Disney World. I was a huge Disney fan growing up, with Disneyland about half an hour away. The trip will be fun, as its during my spring break, and the weekend before my birthday.

You def need to head back to Vegas some day! There's no where else to be to live it large on a dime! I was looking at signs everywhere, $34.99 for a 24 hour buffet pass. That's a price increase from $24.99 from when SO and I did it last year. We went to dinner at 9PM, went back for breakfast, lunch, a snack, then concluded with our last dinner at 8PM.. 5 trips in 24 hours for $25! Haha  That included prime rib, crab legs, and unlimited beer and mimosas too! I'm not a big drinker or gambler, so I don't go clubbing or anything wild like that.. We go for the food and for the shows. There are these kiosks everywhere that offer half off day-of tickets, and they're so worth it! We got both our Variety Show tickets for $72. They're $70/each normally. We met people from everywhere. The couple next to us in line for the show was from France! Vegas = cheap hotels, cheap food, cheap shows.. but the memories are priceless ;)) Do I sound like a billboard yet?

How was the Blue Man Group? I used to dream about watching them at Vegas, but I am nervous I can't appreciate it for hours long.

Blue Man was fun! I have major ADD though, so it was hard to sit through it and enjoy it. It wasn't TOO long, but long enough for me  Same reason I can't go to the movies anymore, I can't sit still long enough. At least with BMG, you get to stand up on occasion and participate, especially near the end.

And yes, I'd love to get back to Vegas someday. I'm not much of a gambler, but I'd like to go and do all the touristy things. I have a friend who goes out there EVERY year for nearly two weeks. All she does is sit in the casinos. The. Whole. Time. It blows my mind. If I had money to p!ss away like that, I'd have my credit cards paid off!

Sorry to hear your dad hasn't been a big part of your life, but that's nice you have the opportunity now. Disney World is fun- I went when I was 11, and thought it was pretty cool. I'd like to go again as adult, definitely. Sounds like you have a fun spring break planned!

It's ADHD now! :loopy: I was told ADD is officially "off" the DSM, and it's now just a spectrum of ADHD, where anyone can fall from minor to severe. Says the person who also has ADHD. :naughty:

There's a reason why we watched the Variety Show. Both SO and I cannot sit still for long periods of time. He's much worse than I am. We walked out of KA cus he was starting to fall asleep after tapping his leg for a long time. I think we were only an hour into the show  LOL!

Thanks for the rec, but it sounds like BMG won't make the cut for us. I was blessed that there's such thing as the Variety Show. I'll have to reserve longer shows for visits with people other than SO. He gets antsy and bored at shows, and doesn't appreciate the $$$$ behind the cost and production.

Coming in late on this (finally got internet hooked up in our house) - but last-minute interview dust to your boyfriend, audball! :))

Will update soon. House stuff has been taking over our lives, and now with the holidays plus the busy time of year for my company approaching, it's hard for me to surf PS as much as I want to. (First world problems, I know...) Boo.

Happy holidays, all!

No news is bad news in my case...they told us today would be the day they made their first offers from my interview two weeks ago and I haven't gotten anything so no job yet :blackeye: unfortunately from past years they don't tell people if they didn't get a position, only told people if they had. Bummer...was trying not to rely on this one but at the same time kinda was. So now I'm gonna have to search harder for another position. Sigh. Hate the job search.

Don't count yourself out yet, right? Maybe they haven't gotten to the calls yet. It IS the week before Christmas after all. And either way, everything happens for a reason. If you didn't get this one, it's because there is one even better waiting for you to find it!

Thanks love. I guess that is true...the recruiters are not always known for getting things out promptly. I just want some security knowing *where* the heck I'm even going to be 6 months from now. I hope that you are right though and that there is something else is on the horizon if this doesn't end up working out. It's just frustrating to put in 5 years and almost 5000 hours and not be guaranteed a spot with the company after graduation.

I know, it is tough. We're not so patiently waiting to see if Andrew gets this job he so desperately wants too. It's always hard to focus on the future and what could be when there is something you want right in front of you right now.

But I am a firm believer in the adage everything happens for a reason. If this one isn't given to you, it's only because there is something that will make you even happier on the horizon!

Hi, pandabee! I'm sorry about the job situation :(( I've been there before, and it really bugs me that nobody seems to have the time (or courtesy) to pick up the phone and let you know you didn't get it. Keeping my fingers crossed for you! I second the notion that something better will come along. It *always* does.

Hi audball & madelise! Good to be back. House is coming along. We took out part of the wall separating the kitchen and dining room to open it up (kitchen is pretty small), just finished that yesterday. But we still don't have the new floors installed, so we're kind of in limbo and still living out of boxes with all of our furniture in the garage!

We're heading out of town this weekend - don't want to jinx anything so I'll keep my mouth shut, but........ ;))

Work is going great! It has been ridiculously busy last week and this week. I have been staying at school for at least 10-11 hours and then come home and do more school work. I am so ready for winter break. After the Sandy Hook tragedy, I was completely devastated. I just can't believe that someone could do such a horrible thing to such small, innocent children. I cried Friday and over the weekend too. I can't imagine what it must feel like for the families. My heart just breaks for them and for their teachers as well. I don't think many people realize the kind of bond we make with our students. I love my students (even the ones who make me want to pull my hair out some days) and I already get teary eyed when I think about them moving to Kindergarten next year. I don't have students on Fridays and so, I didn't get to hug them or see them until Monday. When I did see them, I got a little teary eyed seeing them come in all smiles and ready for the week.

In other news, AUDBALL, WHERE IS YOUR UPDATE? Did Andrew get the job?!?!

gatorblue, ~~~DUST~~~ that you have a memorable and enjoyable trip! ;-)
