Hi all,

I''ve been on here for the past two weeks off an on, asking for your help. You guys came through in a BIG way, and I think I found the stone I''m gonna get.

For reference, here is my earlier post: clicky

Anyway, after searching several sites and sending probably close to 50 emails, I think I have found the diamond: clicky again

Here is the sarin information:

And the resulting HCA report:

All this for ~$1800.

So, what do you think? Am I a fool, or did I do at least a passable job? I am hoping to order by noon tomorrow, so please chime in if you have any comments. I would love to hear ANY feedback, as I''m literally shaking as I''m writing this...

Many thanks to you all, especially Chialea, who PM''d me several times with some great information.

You did your homework!! And DCD is a very reputable Vendor!!

It looks like it will be beautiful.

I see yours is a G with faint fluorescence. I have a G stone with medium fluorescence and I love it. It's very white and sometimes I see a slight blueish/violet hue in the direct sun. Very cool!

Good choice!

Sounds fantastic! Way to do your homework and use the resources here... isn't this forum great?! Please post pics as soon as you can!!!

heheh, i just realized there was some faint fluorescence.

no wonder the stone is so cheap - i kinda overlooked that.

the setting is being cast over the weekend (i have to approve the final moulding tomorrow) so i will hopefully have some pics early next week.

thanks for the compliments - keep them coming - i have five hours till i order!!!!

All details look great. "Faint" fluorescence would not even show in price, let alone the stone itself...

One can only wander what kept this stone out of DCD's "signature" selection like THIS one has... Did you ask?

From what I see, it is just the turn of fate that one diamond got sent to AGS instead of GIA - but I am on the wrong side of the computer screen to tell such details apart

no, i didn't ask, but i actually considered the stone you linked to! since it has several 10X inclusions and comes in with an HCA score right around 2, I elected to go with the other rock.

I'm assuming my chosen stone didn't get picked for the 'Sig Series' because of the fluoresence...that would be my only guess.

okay, i'm almost convinced! keep the input coming!

I doubt that. Faint fluor is not a negative thing by any stretch, and DCD has stones with medium fluor in their sig series.

Sounds lovely. Fain fluor really isn't going to make a whit of difference, so I wouldn't worry about it.

well, I suppose I should update again...

I purchased the stone yesterday late morning and it arrived here about an hour ago.

Since it is my first diamond, I really can't compare it to much, but I'll tell you what: it looks just as big and bright as the little window displays at helzberg (where they put the $10000 rings for the soccer moms to oogle over).

it's sparkling in my peripheral vision, just sitting under my desk lamp. I'll have my jeweler look at it, but I'm pretty happy overall.

Thanks to one and all for your help and kind words. I don't think this purchase would have been nearly as easy or worry free had I not had this forum to answer my questions.

I will post pictures of the ring once it's finished, probably sometime early next week. I have to approve the final wax moulding today.

Again, thank you all very much!!!

Wes

Oh, Wes! The diamond sounds simply PERFECT!
