Don't worry kids, it's not about my RING it's about my EARRINGS! I have some studs that I've been perfectly happy with until yesterday. They are 1.1 each and the size seemed good to me. BUT THEN a girlfriend of mine called and asked my advice because she's on the hunt for some new studs too... to the tune of 2.5 carats EACH. Of course I told her I was envious becuase my holes are so low that I couldn't go any bigger than what I've got without them dipping below my earlobe, and she said, Oh yes you can! So now I'm thinking it over...

Here are some pics. Tell me what you think--can I go bigger? SHOULD I go bigger?

Left ear first.

Right ear.

And one a little farther away for perspective.

Can you go bigger? Absolutely! Should you go bigger? If you really really want to, why not?

Oh Kimberly, you evil enabler... !

So how big do you think I can go? These are a little over 6.5 mm each. 1.5 ct stones would be 7.4 mm... ?

Oh DeeJay, life is short, you work hard and there''s no reason why you shouldn''t have what you want! You can blame it on me when you start the process, and I know you will (start the process that is).

Great -- I''ll take that as the green light to go to *2 cts each*. Should my jewler send you the bill or would you like to call him and pay by credit card?

To me, they look great on your ear. That does not mean you could not go bigger. You happen to have a nice lobe and can really do whatever you like. My first studs were 1 carat each, and I just reset them in paved halos on a wire. Hubby gave me three carat each studs from Tiffany''s one birthday a few years ago and I love them...but I also have a larger earlobe area than you, and a lot of long curly hair, and my other studs did not look like anything on me.

I burst out laughing when I saw who posted this...

That said, GO FOR IT!!!! Your studs are beautiful now, but a lil bit bigger never hurt anyone right?

I said I''d take the blame, not the bill! The center stone on my e-ring is smaller than one of your earrings. Since I''m not getting an upgrade any time in the next ten years I can assure you I won''t be paying for yours !
2.gif
But I will salivate when you post shots of your soon to be new studs.

My heart stopped and my jaw dropped when I saw the author and title.

YES to the bigger earrings. I think 8 mm each is perfect.

Brick-sized is good, right?

I''d try on bigger studs to see if you like them on your ear DJ. Love what you have now, but yup there is room for extra size methinks. Don''t have your HH come shoot me.

Harriet have you SEEN the Eagle?

Hi Gypsy,
No.

YES! YES! YES! Btw, did I say YES?!
Girl, I think your holes are perfectly placed and you should definitely entertain the idea. Why not???!!! Ooooooh, can''t wait to see what you do....!

Those are great looking studs! But, hey, it sounds like fun, looking for bigger!!!

Hi Gypsy,

No.

Oh this is gonna be GREAT. Search "eagle" on here. You''re jaw is gonna drop.
9.gif

oh, I think your current size looks perfect.

The "eagle" is indeed the size of a brick.
26.gif

Btw, how do those of you lucky ladies with 1+ ct each studs lug them around the whole day? Maybe I'm just getting used to my 0.8s, but my ears ache at the end of the day.

Deej, your current earrings are beautiful in your ears. I honestly don''t think going any bigger is going to add anything!

DJ dear, (and Harriet) I laughed because my first thought was "no way she just got the brick setting settled!"
9.gif

You gals make me laugh! (Although when I told the HH I was thinking about an upgrade he about had a frickin' heart attack until I was able to clarify what I meant!)

Hmmm.... maybe I should go over to jewelers row and see what they've got. Tomorrow probably isn't good because a lot of places will be closed for the holiday weekend, but maybe next week...

Harriet -- You just changed your avitar -- LOVE IT! And if your ears are tired at the end of the day make sure your backs aren't too tight. Or, if you spend a ton of time on the phone that could get to you too. Can you say "headset!"
2.gif

hey dj! i have only read your first post and have to answer. definately go for at least 2ct per ear. if i could i would.
1.gif

GO BIGGER!!!!! don''t worry about your earrings hanging lower---your massive ring hangs onto the fingers on either side, why is this different?
9.gif
hehe. we are such enablers on this site.
