Two new little treasures - so gutted they arrived after dark. Can’t wait to get some natural daylight shots tomorrow.

3.15ct sleepy Mahenge Spinel

1.5ct unheated royal blue sapphire - completely clean and gorgeous cutting. But I’m kind of thinking it’s too small for me....

Oh I love the sleepy mahenge and it looks familiar... pls post more pics when you get some sunlight!

Looking at your profile pic, I can understand why the sapphire is too small. Personally I try not to get stuff below 3 carats nowadays. I have man hands so that doesn’t help at all

I live in the Middle East - my rings are small out here - most reach down to the knuckle LOL!!

I could halo the hell out of it - but it’s such an incredible stone I feel like it should be in someone’s engagement ring - someone with little fingers or am gently more refined taste than me!

That spinel looks gorgeous! I can't wait to see more pics.

Maybe a target ring....

Definitely would need more sapphire in the design to bulk it up a bit. Will have to muse on it.

Going to set the spinel in a lotus inspired setting a bit like the Leon but with these little 1.8m bixbite around the very outside in between the petals.

That sapphire has a really pretty color.

It would make a great pair of earrings if you could find a match for it, but that's definitely difficult.

Where did you find these ones?

Just curiosity.

Really good guy. Lovely stock. I’ve met him in person in Sri Lanka.

Thanks! I followed him based on recommendation. Very pretty things.

Both look really lovely!! the color..... :kiss2:

Love them both. Gorgeous rich colors. ❤

:kiss2: :kiss2: :kiss2: both such gorgeous stones!

I agree the sapphire is too small, but only because it's the perfect color to go in a toi et moi with the spinel, if only it were the same size as your spinel!

I vehemently veto the bixbite. Having had untreated bixbite of my own, I know that it's similar to emerald in that it glows but does not sparkle. I think given that your spinel is sleepy and doesn't sparkle on its own, it would be made more stunning by sparkling side stones with higher color contrast!

Oh I’d make sure there was plenty of diamond included too LOL!!

Oh my goal stones! :-o
In the garden. Direct sunlight and shade.

Boy I love these stones!

The spinel almost matches my bougainvillea!

So as usual I decided to go a totally different way than originally conceived.

That blue is so awesome! I love the ring design too.

Those are stunning. You have such a good eye.

That spinel is my absolute ideal color...just delicious.

The sapphire is also stunning, what a duo you found!

Gorgeous!

The sapphire is gorgeous...

What about fancy vivid yellow diamonds in combination?

Love the spinel. I would set it either as a solitaire or a cluster. But then again, I would do that with a lot of things (in theory)!

I really like your gem taste.

Sapphire looks amazing in that setting. I’d been thinking target ring too; but that setting really makes it the star!

So I while I was talking to the designer about all my coloured melee to set with my spinel I spied a setting I really just fell in love with.

I tried this on and decided that I needed a variation and all my ideas about orange and pink halos disappeared.

I’m having this design (modified) in 18k yellow gold to accommodate an east west setting. With a narrower more tapered shank.

Sorry about the blurry photos.

Can’t wait to see how it turns out! The gems are exquisite in their colors.

And if I may commend you also for always so freely sharing your vendor sources so that others can purchase and enjoy as well! Rarely a few folks on PS tend to hoard their sources all for themselves (I understand completely that while most folks may not want to reveal the source/vendor while one is actively purchasing in case someone else “nabs“ it from under them, but a few instances of members continuing not to share vendor info even after a purchase despite others politely inquiring makes me quite sad and just reeks of selfishness IMHO.). It’s so nice of you to share, as it should be on an educational and consumer oriented forum where the name of the game is that we all help each other out and enjoy together our shared passion for jewelry. So a big thank you to you for sharing!

Spinel ring is almost there. Just have to try it on and give the green light for setting.
