two diamonds from goodoldgold...what do you think? (plus a BONUS GOG setting question!)

I know that it''s all about personal preference, but what is YOUR personal preference? I have decided that I want a minimum of G in color, so both diamonds meet my requirements for that. Also, I decided on a minimum of SI1 for clarity and the .64 meets that while the .66 exceeds it. As far as size goes, I was more looking for a .70 but is .64 or .66 even a discernible difference? Also, if you have any comments on table, depth, etc. feel free to enlighten me. I''d appreciate any feedback! I''m a college guy trying to finally wrap up this whole process ASAP so that I can stinking get engaged!

diamond 2: .66

Also, does anyone have any experience with good old gold with their settings? I like a bunch of their settings, but unfortunately the only ones I like are in platinum...Do you think they would be willing to get the setting done in white gold? Thanks for all your help!

JMHO, but for the small price difference, I''d go with the VS .66 stone

I would also go with the .66 F VS2 stone. And many settings can be ordered in platinum or 18k white gold, so that shouldn''t be a problem.

Another vote for the .66! But these are both gorgeous stones, you wouldn''t go wrong with either one. (provided other is eyeclean)

The difference in width is 3 hundredths of an inch, you will not be able to perceive a difference. Both stones score ex-ex-ex-vg on the HCA tool (the smaller stone scores slightly better here as well as on the Megascope results Jon provided which you have likely seen, but as I understand it the HCA is a weeding-out tool and you should not let slight differences in overall score have undue influence in your decision especially when they receive identical ex-ex-ex-vg breakdowns). They should perform wonderfully compared to what you will see in chain stores in my limited experience. Otherwise, the stones are near twins. Don''t let the difference in hue and white balance in the two photos put you off of the .66ct F colored stone. To assure yourself that the color difference as pictured is not representative of the color difference of the two stones, compare the color of the background in the two images and note the yellow tint of that surface in the .66ct stone.

I recently purchased an F VVS2 stone from GOG. Their customer service cannot be beat and rivals the best customer service I have received in any venue for any product. My stone is beautiful, the best cut/performing diamond I''ve seen, an opinion that is echoed by every jeweler who has seen or held it in the last several days since I received it. For as little as most jewelers will talk about cut, they recognize performance (whether or not they can understand how the two interrelate) and will appreciate quality when you do the work to seek it out. These are both quality stones.
