Yuck. I hate that Trump opened this wormhole of celebrities running for POTUS.

And yes, I agree with Kath and Matata that our bar is now HUMILIATINGLY low for Trump. So yes, his speech was shockingly good. For him. With the pathetic bar that he's set (e.g. not screaming or sounding like he's overtly hallucinating. Reading the g-d teleprompter). So overall he won't get much credit from me. Because it's no one's fault for his own that the bar is low enough that a toddler/monkey could get over it.

(And I know I haven't been updating this thread much - the days lately are hit and miss for me. Some days I'm very into it, while others it's just too much to handle. I just find the current climate so depressing that I don't want to think about it and in fact, I want to actively hide from it. On days like that - like today, to be honest - I don't post much. But there is always the possibility of tomorrow, lol).

If there were ever a person who needed to attend a meeting on proper decorum it would be your President. He handled himself professionally at his last meeting. He basically read this speech from a Teleprompter. Look at how he handled past news conferences.

Here's some leftist perspective for any of the "right wingers" who seem to crave it so much:

I thought it was truly pathetic how everyone lapped up as "laudable" the facts that Trump was able to read someone else's speech while not having a temper tantrum. I noticed that most of the conservatives here seemed to think it was quite wonderful, so I didn't feel the need to go on and on about how pathetic the whole thing was - but I certainly didn't "disappear" bc some people "think" Don gave a great speech. I "disappeared" bc I thought it was SAD that anyone actually thinks well of this man for being able to read a TelePrompTer. It's SAD that this is our new standard.

And I also find it absolutely disgusting that a man who has dodged the draft, got a SEAL killed and then tried to blame "the generals" for it (and didn't even bother monitoring the mission while it was happening) used a widow with a husband barely cold to try to manipulate the public. It's very, very sick to me.

As far as the female politicians wearing white and leaving right after the speech? They wear white because they are celebrating the memory of the women who paved the way for ALL of us to VOTE. I cannot imagine why anyone would take issue with that. And they left quickly bc no, they don't respect the pussy grabber, and no, they don't have to. They certainly manage to be more respectful than I would be. If given half the chance, I'd absolutely tell him what a POS I think he is. (Actually, I've done that on twitter several times).
