i am fairly new to pricescope and need your help. i read a post this morning that said pricescopers are "more than willing to help you find a diamond"...so i thought i might see if anyone could help me find a diamond...I am looking for a cushion cut ( a more rounded rectangle as opposed to the squarish cushions) ..I am not particular about color or clarity- as long as they don''t have a visible tint or an inclusion I can see. I would like for it to be 1.5 + carats.....if anyone knows of a good one..let me know...Thanks so much- all of your advice and discussion is priceless!

...About finding your cushion diamond...

You may want to consider contacting Good Old Gold and speak to either Jonathan or Tim. I personally worked with them and had superior customer service. Let them know of your budget restraints and any other particulars so that they can customize to you.

Another source is Mark T. with Engagement Rings Direct. He is excellent at customer service and is patient to help you with your search. I know if I needed his help, Mark would be on my list to call.

Whiteflash and James Allen are also names of vendors mentioned by folks who have had great experiences...

Good luck...

I second www.goodoldgold.com and Mark at www.engagementringsdirect.com both are highly respected on this forum and have provided some pricescopers with some amazing cushions. Call them and tell them what your looking for. I also know moremoremore checks out bluenile every week. She worked with Mark to get her gorgeous cushion and she found it on Bluenile. Since BN doesn''t own the stone Mark was able to call it in and she bought it for less than the BN price.

Did someone say cushion?!

Welcome fellow cushion lover! I''ll be happy to help if I can. First thing, do you know what kind of cushion you want? Because there are many different cuts that get labeled as cushions. Check out this thread. (I apologize for the shameless self-promotion of my own thread...

) It has pictures of the different kinds of cushions. Basically, you need to decide if you want an old or modern cut -- or if you really don''t care either way.

I will also add endorsements for Mark T. and Good Old Gold. Either would be able to help you. And I''ve been working with Whiteflash on my cushion quest and they have been awesome!

I personally think this one at GOG is awesome! Is is rectangular enough for you? I think is is a nice mix of vintage and modern. I would only be worried about a possible bowtie.

In response to your email:

I think somewhere around 65% is a good depth for a cushion, but it really depends on the stone. I know from looking around at Whiteflash that they had some stones listed with depths less than 60%, so they really had a lot of spread, but I would be concerned about going that shallow with a cushion.

And don''t be worried about purchasing from one of the internet vendors. Do a search on whomever you are thinking about and you can read lots of feedback. Any one of the three already mentioned would be completely helpful and less expensive than most brick and mortar stores. Plus, they have access to tons of great cushions. My local places could not come up with nearly as many options and did not want to provide the kind of info I wanted.

Ok so now I feel kind of stupid but...what is a bowtie?
