Jaders, we saw both of those projects. I think Beaches is further down from there, right? We were at the Regent Palms, and I cannot recall what is on the other side of it going away from Beaches...

Diamondfan:

The list of resorts from Beaches going towards the Palms is as follows:

Beaches
Veranda
Alexandra
Regent Palms
Somerset
Sibonne
and so on...

hope that helps..

BTW.. the new casino -- Casablanca -- is open and has all live action games: Kraps, Roulette, Poker, Blackjack etc... it is a blast, and much better than the Players Club..
and you are totally right about the shopping.. virtually non-existant.. and what is available is pricey.. but I love the stuff from the Palms.. very nice!

I was in the boutique there and the swim shop DAILY. Spent so much because they mark it up, but I was desperate!

It is a lovely spot. I hope they get some high end shopping in though.

Oooh, the Four Seasons Maldives! Lucky you, Harriet. As for the Amanpuri, it was nice, sure, but no more than any hotel in that category and certainly not worth the inflated room rates. Perhaps I was put off by the so-so food, and the surrounding locale wasn''t all that impressive (save for the beach).

I never thought about posting links to hotels. Here are a few of the nicer ones DH and I have stayed at over the years.

Reid''s Palace, Madeira
Hotel Danieli, Venice
Excelsior, Venice Lido
St Regis, Rome
Le Meurice, Paris (and Costes, Paris)
Lanesborough, London (where I got married

)
Dromoland Castle, Ireland
Villa Vedema, Santorini
Penninsula, Bangkok
just starting to read this thread. . .

We stayed at these 2 places as well!
Danieli had a lot of character, but did you feel like you were in a fun house at a carnival sometimes? LOL! Because of the water I guess it''s moved a little and the halls and staris weren''t really straight. It was beautiful but a little surreal!

We had a divine room and experiences at the St. Regis, I LOVED that hotel!
We go back in May. . . wonder if we''ll get to staty there again?
I loved everything about the Danieli, ricketiness and all

It was a good seven years ago that I stayed there (for my 23rd birthday, courtesy of DH) and I still remember the incredible chocolate plate we ate beside the pianist. Did the hotel send you to the menu-less trattoria around the corner? TO-DIE-FOR! Was doubly impressed when the hostess told me I looked like a non-slutty version of Maria Grazia Cucinotta

The St. Regis Rome was beautiful, possibly the grandest hotel I''ve ever been in.

diamondgirl5k I was in Turks and Caicos at the Palms in July as well. How funny is that? We may have been there at the same time. I must say it is one of my favorite places I have ever been in my life. The quiet, calm is just my speed. People have said there is nothing to do there, but I thought there was SO much to do. I guess I''m a simple kinda girl though.

To add to the eye candy, here is one of my favorite photos of sailboats on the perfect, blue sea:

Yeah, that''s exactly how I feel!

I have almost the same exact photo as the one I just posted, but one I took in the winter. Trying to find it among my travel photos to share...

OK, I'm having trouble finding the one I'm thinking of, but here is one of just the boat in winter. Doesn't look quite so inviting anymore!

Honestly, Sweden is amazing. I''ve been there so many times and I just want to keep going back. If you stick around for awhile, you''ll see how picturesque Stockholm is. Whenever I try to describe to people what it''s like, I tell them it really and truly looks like a postcard.

It also helps that everyone there is so incredibly friendly. Some of the nicest people you''ll ever find.

Hi Harriet, yes the pic from Miami is at the National, another great hotel.. and we were able to stay there at a relatively cheap price through expedia.com

Linda

Thanks, Linda!

I''ve been there several times (maybe around 5 or 6?), usually for 4-5 days each. My BF lived there like 12 years ago, so the first time he just took me there because he wanted to show it to me. I wanted to keep going back after that first time, so we did!

This is one of my fave photos of the mountains beside my house. D and I often take Amber for a hike around the perimeter of the mountain. The views are amazing. Here''s Amber looking down at the lake at the bottom of the mountain. So if you ever come to Dublin, you should definitely go for a walk up here and then to Johnny Fox''s for a pint!
