Travel - Abu Dhabi

Thought I would try and kick start a travel forum. This thread is for Abu Dhabi.

Day 1: arrived and visited the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. It was painfully hot outside, between 40-42’C. Very glad to have brought my sunglasses.

Travel tip: read the dress code in advance and ladies make sure you bring a scarf to cover your hair.

Day 3 - the Falcon hospital. I highly recommend a visit. Unfortunately, however, I was only able to enjoy the first quarter of the tour as I fainted . They were so great looking after me and one vet in particular.

I also need to hear more about this falcon hospital!!! I'm guessing they are a common pet?

It was a combination of the heat and standing still in one spot for too long (for my body).

I don’t think the Falcons are “common”, equivalent to cats and dogs. My impression is that they are somewhat of a status pet - but plenty of people must have them, the hospital treats approximately 13,000 per year (although I am not sure of the breakdown between wild and pet/captivity bred).

Day 4 - the National Aquarium. This is a relatively small aquarium but has extremely high quality exhibits.

Beautiful! And the tanks look pristine. I feel like someone needs to make an animated film about thr fish in the third photo. They look like they have personality. Thanks for sharing.
