Top 2 (or 3 if you're a big shopper) CS purchases of 2018

2018 was a busy and expensive year for me. I didn’t buy a lot of new gemstones but I made some real progress in setting the ones I already had (yay me! ). I also bought two CS rings, which I absolutely love, from a couple of great vendors.

1. I bought this gorgeous purple sapphire from Cecile Raley Designs and had it set into a preloved Veraggio halo ring. This purple is the perfect shade for me. A little purple and a little pink.



2. I bought this 3ct Merlani mint garnet ring from Gilded Lane (aka @athenaworth). I absolutely adore this ring. It’s totally different from anything I own and I freaking love it! The mint sparkles like crazy and I still remember the happy sounds I made when I first opened the box.




3. My new paraiba three stone tops the list for me. I’ve waited on this one for years and it was so worth it.

@elle_71125 I can't believe this ring is finished already! Stunningly beautiful and one of your best, in my opinion. I'm so sorry I've missed the unveil!

I was busy this year (a bit of an understatement...). Actually, I kind of went off the rails, all with the help of you horrible people here on PS. It started with an innocent trip to Tuscon and a visit to John Dyer's booth.



Then @Bron and I had an unusual adventure and Truth fell in my lap.





And finally, just a few days ago, my Christmas present arrived.





Even though I have another trip to Tuscon planned for next February, I'm not buying anything. Really. I swear.

Looking back, I was very disciplined this year...but I did purchase a few things. My favorite at this moment is definitely my star ruby. I’m looking forward to setting it in 2019!




My next favorite is this hand carved, aquamarine brooch made by local jeweler husband and wife team. I love it because it’s got a lovely simplicity and really makes a statement. Wearing brooches is new to me, but Im truly enjoying it. I can also wear it as a pendant.


I also bought a lavender jade ring to go with a pendant which I have. It needs to be reset in a different semimount, but it’s nice to have a bit more of a color ‘set’ in the mean while.

Hi! Sorry for the late reply! No thread for the lavender cab but I'll try to tell you the summarised story of our jade adventures

So basically last year Burmesdaze found a jade lady on Facebook. Her stuff looked great and her prices were good. A bunch of us bought stuff and Bluegemz even sent her lavender cab to be tested and it was found to be A grade. All good

Then we started to think prices were getting high. ChaiK found another seller on Facebook who operated through wechat, who has the same suppliers as the original lady but is cheaper.

So we all cottoned on and bought from this new seller. All good so far.

My cab was bought from the first lady. I'm really happy with it as it is a lovely lavender even in the most terrible lighting. It was a decent price too.

This was easy. My top colored stone purchase of 2018:





I decided to resize it for right hand wear. I should have it back in a few days. I also decided I can still look for a band to pair it with, if I feel like it. Who says I can't wear a "wedding set" look on my right hand? I'm a big girl and I can do what I want.
