Hi all, I have 3 stones in mind, and need to make decision soo. However, still don''t know which one is better choice, hopefully you guys can help me decide!

All 3 are ACA stones, one is bigger 1.57, but lower Color grade I, another two are similiar smaller size 1.281-1.283 with better color G and 2000$ less, but I don''t know which one I should choose.

Another minor thing about the #2 stone (1.283/G/VS2), it shows there is a small chip, instead of normal inclusion, Is it a more serious problem?

My dilemma is: I Do want my gf''s dimanond bigger, but at the sametime I don''t want her diamond show too much yellower either, sigh... wish I have more money...
Thanks advance for all inputs.

it seems you haven''t tapped into the SI1 stones yet. don''t be afraid of them.

Hi JulieN:

Yes :), I am still very afraid of SI, especially when i can''t really see them in person. How you do think of these 3 stones? which one you prefer?

They all look great.
One more I (your budget was 10K, right?) http://www.niceice.com/certcopies/ags0007880304/index.htm

Why don't you test drive, a 1.25 G and a 1.5 I?

What's better is that you take a ~1.4 H SI1 for a spin, but you should probably ask what's coming down the pipeline if you want one of those babies, 'cause they're hot.

Hi JulieN and all:
Here are the picture of #1 stone and #2 stone side by side.
2000$ price difference.#1 is bigger but it is a I (phsychologically I think it might be too warm). #2 is smaller but better color grade.

Another thing, when I look at its AGS report for stone #2, it shows there is a chip(I believe) on the stone, could it be a problem potentiallY?

I am not sure which one to choose, pick one for me! It is for my gf, so I don''t have the luxury to test drive both:), have to make up my mind soon.

Again, Julie, thanks a lot for all the helps!

I don't see a chip; ask WF about it.

Now this stone is interesting: http://www.jamesallen.com/diamond.asp?cid=131&item=862884
Really nice symmetry. Table is on the larger side, I don't think it is a big deal. Get the report on that one and see if the proportions work. It's all about the combination. If someone put respectively well proportioned 57%T and a 59%T together, I really don't think people can see the 2% difference.

I personally would take the G if it meant a difference in the setting budget. But if not, I don't know.

loudway,

I understand about the "I" colors. They can sometimes look warm in a larger stone, HOWEVER that cut is wonderful and it may face up really white. As far as the chip, the only way to know is to call Whiteflash and speak with Debbie/Katie or Brian. I also understand about the SI1''s; sometimes I can see the inclusions and they bug me.

IF your budget allows diamond #1, and you call Whiteflash, and Brian tells you its a brilliant white stone, and you want that large of a stone, then get it.

Note: All of these diamonds below are exactly the same light, fire, and scintillation performance as your stones.

If you want a better color and clarity of VVS2, I would actually buy this one, it''s right in the middle at 1.31ct but it''s still expensive. It''s the same light performance as your #1 and #2 diamond, but it''s a better clarity, and a G color. This way, you can at least get the bigger diamond, and a better color, although you''d be paying for the unnecessary clarity since VS1 and VS2''s are generally eye clean:

There''s also this one if you want to lower your budget. This one also has the same light performance as the ones above, and the inclusions are very minimal at VS1.

Here''s a REALLY REALLY nice SI1. This is one of the VERY few I''ve seen that I would consider buying. 1.52 H for $10,100?? thats a really good price. I''m almost leaning toward this one...............

Another thing to think about is the setting. Do you have one in mind, and how much it''s going to cost? You may want to get your diamond #2 if you want a more expensive setting with sidestones. Remember, really nice settings with side stones can cost between 1200-2500-5000 bucks!

IMO, you should consider flying in to see the stones at Whiteflash if you''re really concerned with them. They can always lay these out for you and explain the pros and cons, and help you choose which one you ultimately want. Either way, I hope that helps!

Pick one for you? Go for the larger one. Get the "I". Yeah it''s psychologically warm to you but in all likeliness it won''t be visually warm to her. Some things to consider.

1. Tiffany uses "I" or better, so if it''s good enough for Tiffany...
2. This tounge-in-cheek article stating that girls only care about three things in a diamond. Is it Big? Is it Sparkly? Is it Big? The extra carat power will come in handy for her when she does an engagement ring show down with her friends.

Good luck, any choice will be fine. If you still can''t decide, flip a coin.

Thanks a lot for all the suggestions! Now I have been flooded by all the information provided to me .. I never thought it can be this much entaintaining and confusing when picking these little rocks :)

Especially, JulieN, you are so wonderful and knowledgeable, I really have learned a lot from you!, thanks, thanks and thanks!

I just realize one thing, with whiteflash''s full upgrade policy, I can also come back and find a perfect stone if I wanna upgrade in the future:), it is not like the one time deal or something you have to stuck with for the lifetime.... I am going to flip the coin to make the decision.

BTW, I called WF about the chip like inclusion, they viewed it and told me it is just a small feather, hehe.
