This diamond is a winner, no concerns at all!Date: 9/2/2009 8:44:24 PM

Phew, that's good to know!Thanks Stone-Cold.![]()
Can I please pick your brains a little further? In your experience, how do JA True Hearts stones compare to ACAs or Infinity? Are there any other brands I should be looking at? I heard of HoF but I never saw one.
No worries at all, the HCA is used to eliminate diamonds and once you have images those trump any HCA score. Also most well cut diamonds get VG for spread, only those with depths of 60.3% or lower get ex. Its a gorgeous diamond of top cut quality, nothing to worry about at all!Date: 9/3/2009 7:12:38 AM

Thanks for your input Luckedup and Lorelei.
The only thing that worries me a bit is how it's scores on the HCA: 1.4 but the scintillation and spread are VG. Obviously, I will determine whether the stone appeals to me in person, but is this reason for concern?
D.
Don't worry about scintillation, this seems to come up on the HCA but remember the HCA cannot see the diamond and is only estimating based on assumptions and 4 measurements. JA h&a diamonds as in all cases with any vendor look at each one on its own desirable visual and physical properties ( proportions, hearts and arrows images etc).Date: 9/3/2009 7:57:02 AM

Thanks for reassuring me Tap and Lorelei![]()
I've noticed that superideals often score VG for spread on the HCA, and that didn't worry me, I was thinking more about the scintillation...
Whiteflash has another couple of stones that I have requested IS and ASET images for, as they aren't online.
Pricewise, I was quite pleased with Whiteflash. I did see a couple of beautiful Infinity stones, but both seemed to be just outside of what I was looking for in terms of colour and size (a colourless 0.61 and a warmer 0.53, and I was hoping for something inbetween). There was just more choice on the Whiteflash website. I've also looked at JA True Hearts stones, which are priced even more competitively, but I am being told that they aren't as tight on the parameters.
Probably. As mentioned, a cloud affecting the brilliance is rare in SI1 and from the inclusion map, this is a small cloud. Also, WF is not going to give an ACA designation to an inferior stone.Date: 9/3/2009 2:03:17 PM

Thanks Jet2Ks, here is the report link:

The cloud is the first on the list. I did ask Traci about this, and she assured me that I have nothing to worry about, but I am not sure. I wonder if I am worrying uneccessarily...
Won't be a problem in this instance with an ACA, the time to be wary is if it says " clarity grade is based on clouds which are not shown" in SI clarities. " Clouds not shown" in the comments section is not usually of concern and is just mentioned for completeness.Date: 9/3/2009 3:43:05 PM

Oh, I forgot to mention that the ACA report cites 'additional clouds not shown'. I once read a PS post where it was suggested this isn't a good thing.
Thats very kind and that makes me happy to know I am of help to you, thank you!!!Date: 9/3/2009 4:56:00 PM

The hearts image looks fine, so it comes down to price and preference and checking very carefully that each are eyeclean from all angles, also if an upgrade policy might be a future consideration, Whiteflash''s upgrade terms are more lenient than those of James Allen.
