I’m thinking of resetting my .88ct OEC diamond In order to get more finger coverage. =)2
The diamond measures 6.13-6.18mm.

I love the CVB Casablanca halo, the Magnolia, the setting in the blue box or even the Sienna, although I don’t think that one would provide more finger coverage.

I’m hoping someone could tell me if it’s worth spending money to reset this diamond or I should just start from scratch and save up for a better, bigger :mrgreen2: diamond.

I had it appraised in it’s setting and it was graded as G/H VS2. I’ve attached the report.

Thanks so much to anyone who would like to offer an opinion.

A halo would certainly give you more finger coverage but would not be like the proportions in the posted halo ring as that center stone looks much larger. If you are looking for that much finger coverage, I think I would wait and try to start out with a larger stone. However, you might want to touch base with CVB or David Klass and see what ideas they might have for the stone. Would you consider haloing three stones with that as the center? You could certainly get more horizontal finger coverage by doing that.

I have a Sienna in rose gold and I adore it, but it won't give you more coverage. One of Caysie's halos would look amazing for your stone!

I think saving up for a bigger diamond is a good idea. And since you like old cuts don't forget to seek them out from local coin/jewelry shops that buy gold and diamonds. I scrapped a bunch of gold today and just on a whim asked the owner if he had any OEC's with GIA certs. He showed me a lovely 1.65 carat OEC L color, VS2 and the price was $3800.

Wow $3800 for a 1.65! Wish I could find a deal like that!

Yes that’s something on my wish list. I have so many pictures saved on my iPad that I’ll probably run out of storage!

I have a .57 in a halo that has a little larger stones than preferred here, and the finger coverage is as good as my 2.22 OEC was and it’s beautiful so I would say if you love your stone and/or it had sentimental value you can’t go wrong on the halo. Otherwise it’s always fun to upgrade the stone size and then one day halo that. I’m not much help lol.

I know I was surprised. Especially since the GIA cert showed only one tiny feather and it was cut so nice with a nice spread. He told me to check back often ( I have this dream of a 2 carat or larger OEC) because he gets in new diamonds daily. It seems like these types of local coin/jewelry shops may be a good source of OEC's if you take your time and are diligent in your search.

Love this three stone. Gives me the warm and fuzzies.

Serial resetter here. Lol. I love your ring as is, but when the itch strikes, so hard to ignore it. I think your halo options are gorgeous and will give you max finger coverage. Absolutely. Nothing like a halo to do that. If you are sure you love your stone and will not want to upgrade soon, I say go for it. But as I recall, you are trying to sell your Tiffany ring. So, it seems you were looking to upgrade prior. What have you discovered in the process? Will you go super ideal or do you want to stick to oec? Do you value finger coverage more than anything right now? Your preferred halos will be pricey and realistically, could help fund your upgrade. Finally, will you keep this oec or you will sell it to help fund your upgrade?
