Firstly, I just want to say thanks to those who contribute to these forums. People really go out of their way to help newbies like myself and it has made a huge difference in my search for the perfect diamond.
After months of searching and deliberating I think I have narrowed it down to two diamonds:
Diamond 1:
Carat: 1.036
Cut: AGS 0 (A Cut Above)
Color: F
Clarity: VS2
Detailed stats: http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/princess-cut-loose-diamond-2985955.htm
Diamond 2:
Carat 1.0
Cut: AGS 0
Color: F
Clarity: VS1
Detailed stats: Seller (one of the large online vendors) was unable to provide any light performance images. The certificate and a picture of the diamond are attached below. The seller told me that the diamond is eye clean. They also have a 30 day return policy.
With the slightly limited information on Diamond 2 I appreciate that is difficult to make a true comparison. What I can say is that Diamond 2 is $425 cheaper, has an AGS 0 cut rating (while this does not guarantee performance I hope it elminates some of the risk) and has a slightly higher clarity. Diamond 1 is a WF ACA, it also is AGS 0 but lower clarity. WF are very transparent and great at providing information about the diamond's performance which I think as an online consumer is definitely helpful but this clearly comes at a premium.
My question is if you had to pick one which would it be and why? I appreciate a lot is down to personal preference and add on benefits, but purely on the details provided which diamond would you be your preference?
Assuming Diamond 2 was lower performing compared to Diamond 1, would it be be significantly noticeable for the average person? I guess what I am getting at is am I splitting hairs when distinguishing a "top" AGS 0 and a "bottom" AGS 0? (if that even exists!)
