Tiffany Setting without the price (custom?)

Hi all,

I've been lurking around these forums for the past few weeks and have gained a ton of valuable knowledge. So thank you for that! My girlfriend and I have been looking at rings at lots of different locations including Tiffany's. She loves a few of the settings by Tiffany, namely the 6-prong Tiffany solitaire setting and the 6-prong Tiffany diamond band setting. Far left and far right in the link below:

Now I also love these rings, but the price tag is a bit hefty for the size of diamond we are looking for. She tried on a few diamonds and we both agreed that a diamond below 1.25 ct looked a bit small. Luckily, my budget allows me to get up to about 1.50 ct diamond of great quality as long as it does not come from Tiffany's. What I'm having trouble finding is a setting similar to those shown above, or finding something custom made that is similar. Tiffany's prongs are quite a bit thinner than all of the others I've seen online and I think that's what makes them look so amazing. Does anybody have any insight or suggestions on settings similar to those listed above? I don't mind going custom, but I've heard a lot of mixed reviews about custom settings.

I have some diamonds in mind that I'm looking at, but haven't finalized them.

Thank you in advance for the help.

BGD classic knife edge. I don't know how the width of the shank compares to the classic Tiffany knife edge. There are others in PS that have this setting that you can search and examine.

And BGD stones are amazing.

Here it is in platinum.

This is from Whiteflash which sells amazing ACA stones. This Vatche model looks really thin. 1.65mm. I am guessing even more skinny than Tiffany. Of course it comes in platinum.

The Vatche setting that many people here have is the U-113. I have it. It is 2mm wide, maybe just slightly thinner than the real Tiffany, but I love it. Caysie van Bebber (sells through Love Affair Diamonds) has done a beautiful adaptation of that classic setting which I think costs less than Vatche. You'd buy your diamond wherever you wanted and then send to her to set. And last, Whiteflash does a very nice one (m2b's ring shown) and sells top quality diamonds.

You both are fantastic! Thank you for the replies. I happen to like both of these. I had not come across Brian Gavin's knife edge while looking through their website. And I love the vatche u-113 setting. In my opinion it looks better than the Tiffany setting. Again thank you for the help! Pushing me in the right directions!

Another vote for the Vatche U-113- I prefer it over the original Tiffany setting! I will also recommend ID Jewelry for ordering the Vatche U-113, if you don't have another Vatche dealer that is close to you. They have great prices and customer service!
