So, I was "playing the game" on Jewelers Row (in Philadelphia) recently and was looking for a Valentine''s Day something for my special someone. =) I was curious as to what kind of response I would receive about a setting inquiry, so I proceeded to ask to see what they had in terms of a "Six Prong Classic Tiffany Setting." Now in my head this always refers to their RB, solitaire setting (you know the one!). I was lead to the rings and shown what was a Six Prong Solitaire setting. I proceeded to discuss how this is not like the tiffany setting, and "educated(?)" them on the differences between Tiffany''s and what they were offering. We pulled up T&Co''s website and got an enlarged shot of the setting I was looking for, and without hesitation I was informed.... "We Can Make This." Now I know there are copyright issues (not a concern of mine), and I am certain they can attempt to remake the setting, but what are the chances of them remaking as the original?

I love the Tiffany setting and so does my other half, but the price tag is unwarranted and the inability to choose your own stone is a HUGE turn-off. In case you were curious of their prices, without wanting to call them...This will give you an idea. All prices are setting and stone, before tax:
.50, F, VS1, $5,400.00
.50, E, VS1, $6,200.00
.50, E, VS2, $5,700.00
.49, E, VS1, $5,400.00
.56, F, VS2, $5,450.00
.52, D, VS1, $6,800.00
.57, D, VS2, $6,550.00

PS: I say I was "playing the game," because I am younger and dressed off season (deliberately), just to bring out the best in some of the salesmen I was talking to.

Sales is a big game to me.

Obviously it depends on the expertise of the particular jeweler. I would not attempt it unless you have seen other work of theirs. The best Tiffany reproduction settings are Excel/SuperbCert, WhiteFlash, and Quest. There are examples of all three posted on this forum. You''ll also probably do much better on an ideal cut diamond if you deal with someone like WhiteFlash, as well.

I have contacted Katie at Whiteflash (she actually called me), and we have spoken about several options, but I am waiting for their new shipment of ACA diamonds...

I have seen WF and Excel version of the Tiffany and both are quite good. I was just curious as to what this B&M had to offer and surprise surprise it was nothing new! Quest on the otherhand, I have not heard or seen their setting...I am excited

WOWZA...I was over at their site and might I say that it looks much different with the stone. Might I ask what size diamond that is, for perspective sake.
