I had a question regarding prices at Tiffany for specific diamond specs (a quick inventory check is what I''m looking for). I''ve seen PSers who had a similar question and it was suggested that they e-mail and ask. So I did. I wrote asking about specific diamonds in the .70-.75 range, H-I, VS1-2. I also asked about shank width for a solitaire Etoile with a stone within that size range. I got a message back about each diamond being "unique" and they couldn''t give me a price range, and that they''d need my address and phone number so someone could call. I wrote back with the requested information and have heard nothing since (this was several days ago). Did I go about this all wrong? I basically am looking for an idea of how big of a diamond I can afford and how thick the shank will be so as not to go too big (LOL) with that ring. Did I ask about a too-specific size range? Maybe I should have asked .7 to .8? They were so quick to get back to me initially, but then nothing. I know I can find a better deal with an online vendor, but I haven''t yet seen a semi bezel that I like more than the Etoile. Any advice would be appreciated. Heck, if anyone can get an answer from Tiffany, that would be even better! Many thanks in advance.

I went through the same thing a while ago. I then called 1-800-8433269 and talked to someone specifically right there on the spot. They gave me a general quote, and also got a slaes rep to get back to me with my more specific requests, with 5 possibilities... So maybe give them a call. I find in this age its easier for epople to ignore a email than a voice...
Good luck in your search.

You have to call them directly. call this number 973-401-3779. It''s the direct line for a diamond sales rep at Tiffany. Her name is Miriam and she is very helpful. She doesn''t normally answer but if you leave her a message she gets back to you right away. Seriously she always calls back within an hour os so.

I emailed them last year and the SA sent me back any quotes I wanted. The name of the girl that I was dealing with in the NY branch was Karen and she was really helpful so maybe try and ring her. Or else email again through their website and hopefully you might get someone a bit more helpful!

I was looking at the Legacy e-ring not too long ago (just curious) and asked for inventory prices, which I was given. I then called the branch nearest me for prices on slightly different specs a while ago.

I recently got some quotes from a SA at Tiffany''s. We went into the store and talked with her in person and she gave us the quotes on the stones we were interested in and THEN she emailed us some more she thought we might like. Here are the quotes I got, they''re a little bigger than you were looking at but maybe it would help to give you a general idea!

1.27 ct, I color, VS2............$12,900.
1.26 ct, H color, VS2..........$14,700.
1.27 ct, G color, VS2..........$16,100.
1.33 H VVS2 = $17,400
1.27 G VS1 = $17,400
1.20 I VVS2 = $13,000

These are all rounds in the Tiff knife edge solitaire. If you''d like I could give you her email. GL!

Thank you, everyone, for the advice. I wrote to customer service again, this time being as specific as possible, making it clear that I am in the market for a ring and want an inventory search. I also mentioned that I wrote a week ago and have not yet heard back (I did this politely and tactfully, I think!).

Kat, thank you for some numbers. I think I will go with the lowest color and clarity they offer. It''s not that I don''t care about a nice rock, it''s just that I''m more interested in that Etoile setting. No other setting I''ve seen so far comes close. It''s a shame I have to pay that premium, since I know I could get a far better and much larger diamond from an online vendor. D&mn you, Tiffany! Why must your settings be so gorgeous?!

QueenG I hear you about the Etoile setting. I looove it too, and I think that sometimes you just have to fork over the cash to get what you REALLY want.

As someone has in their tag line (I think Mrssalvo), ''It''s not a deal unless it''s exactly what you want'' or words to that effect.

Good luck and let us know about the shank widths in particular. I am interested as I am thinking of doing a replica myself. Sorry an ''inspired'' piece! Unfortunately I have spent all my serious cash on another rock so I must settle...

I totally agree with you about the Tiffany settings! There is something about them that just speaks to me, and no replica (no matter how fantastic) can match it IMO. For me, I LOOOVE the classic solitaire with those sexy prongs. I''ve tried to analyze exactly what it is about them that resonates with me, and I think it has to do with the fact that the prongs are handmade as opposed to cast...? I don''t know about the etoile, but maybe its something similar? It is appealing to your eye bc of the WAY they make it? More fluid or something.

I have a problem with Tiffany''s website though. They really don''t give much information like band width or anything. Why is that? It seems like such an easy thing to add!

I mean, come on, you have beautiful, detailed pictures of your pieces, and you can''t tell me how wide the band is? sighh...
