Today I went to Tiffany's with two lovely diamond loving friends who had never been to a Tiffany's before. It was my least favorite location, the local one in St. Louis, but the lovely SA who spent time with us was fantastic.

I decided to try on a few bands since I have no idea how this Flyer thing will turn out, I ended up not liking the Lucida 1.5mm pave, or the Novo, one was too thin, the other too wide. But I ended up trying on the Channel Set Eternity...2mm...And I loved it. I was SHOCKED I loved it. But of course it's a little out of the budget at $3100. So if it becomes a refund...then maybe Ill just do this, although DH just had a FIT that I would even consider buying anything from them after how they treated us and that whole saga.

Anyway he let me take a few pics, which might be a first...

My stone looks cruddy from us trying each others stuff on. My stone is a 1.15ct Star129, on a 2.3mm wide Vatche Royal Crown.

Ame... I really like... Maybe you could find one second hand off eBay from a trusted seller for a little less.... If it comes to replacing the Flyer...

Re: Tiffany 2mm Channel Set diamond band--for future referen

I really like this :appl:

Re: Tiffany 2mm Channel Set diamond band--for future referen

Nice selection ame!
on ebay, I think Diamonddr carries resale Tiffany items as does Oakgem (but you probably already knew that - sorry if it is old news ;)) )

Re: Tiffany 2mm Channel Set diamond band--for future referen

Wow! I actually love that together!

My Vatche Swan is 2.3mm as well, and I was considering a channel set or bezel band to pair with it. Does the head of the Royal Crown jut out as much as the Swan?

Re: Tiffany 2mm Channel Set diamond band--for future referen

you know what, I'm sort of shocked too! I'm not a huge fan of chanel sets but I really really like this, it looks like they work really really well. I think that my instinct would have been the novo but this works!

Re: Tiffany 2mm Channel Set diamond band--for future referen

It looks terrific & I'm also not usually a channel-set lover. Would the stock sizes work for you so you can see the actual one (and inspect it) before you buy it?

Re: Tiffany 2mm Channel Set diamond band--for future referen

HI:

Ame, I thought you hated Tiffany--no, actually your past descriptions/posts/references were always "beyond", "hate" (expletives, etc, etc, etc).

Naturally I am surprised at your "positive"" post, but if it works out.......

cheers--Sharon

Beautiful ring and it looks great.

I know that channel set rings are not real popular around here, but in my humble opinion, they are the best choice for an every day diamond band. It is a sturdy setting with no prongs to go loose. :wavey:

Re: Tiffany 2mm Channel Set diamond band--for future referen

I love it. I too just love channel set bands. It just feels so timeless and classic, especially with a solitaire. Ame, you have such pretty hands. Long fingers, like some one who would play the harp.

Re: Tiffany 2mm Channel Set diamond band--for future referen

I think it looks terrific with your e-ring, Ame! I don't like all channel-set bands, but I think the Tiffany ones are the nicest! I have another Tiffany source if you get to that point.

Re: Tiffany 2mm Channel Set diamond band--for future referen

Deco--I could get a stock 6 from them actually. It would flop a lot below my knuckle but would fit over it.

DS: It looked great together, which shocked me. I hated the look when I saw it online.

Oh Ill never own it, unless it comes from a second hand dealer like Oakgem, or Betteridge or whatever. I am definitely NOT a fan of the chain because of my history with them. My husband is FURIOUS that I went in the store in the first place, let alone tried something on. He didn't speak to me for 4 hours yesterday over it. I have grudges, and this to him is like the ultimate grudge. They ruined our engagement and his proposal, so this is the ultimate grudge for him. He's disgusted I even went there. So...no, I won't be buying it.

I tried it on to see what it would look like and I was shocked I loved it. IF I ever own a channel set, it probably would be from SP or from a second hand source of Tiffany.

I love it. I don't like all channel sets, but when done right I think it looks so classy.

Oakgem always has good selection of bands; stuff turns over quickly tho. Do you mean SP as in Signed Pieces? I don't know if they are still in business--or rather if they carry the "type" of merchandise of lore.

cheers--Sharon

I mean facets probably since sp no longer makes bands.

Re: Tiffany 2mm Channel Set diamond band--for future referen

Love it with your Vatche! I tried on that band and loved it, too. I don't normally like a channel setting for rounds, but the Tiff's version is just perfection.

I think all three of us were equally wowwed. I hated it just in pics on the site, but it looks great on my hand. I might see about finding it second-hand, though if my Flyer comes back right, it won't matter!

Now I don't want to give you a headache, but that would look mighty fine on that hand of yours with one on either side of your e-ring methinks.

Lol well I'll have to get one secondhand. I am loosely looking since it's not really in the budget right now anyway, I need windows in my house this year.

Thanks! I am not a harpist though, I am not that musically inclined despite all the piano lessons and short stint in a band.

Re: Tiffany 2mm Channel Set diamond band--for future referen

Count me as another who generally doesn't like channel set bands, but thinks this looks great with your Vatche! Awesome!

Windows are TOTALLY over rated.... Bling is so much more importnat.... :naughty: :Up_to_something:

Re: Tiffany 2mm Channel Set diamond band--for future referen

He disagrees. Especially right now. And like I said, we will NEVER buy this from Tiffany's. It will have to be second hand in new condition. Or made by another brand. But that's out of the questin for YEARS right now. We need to do how stuff this year. Because we've spent 5 figures on ring drama and remakes over the last 3 years, we haven't done enough to the house.

I missed this question--No the RC does not jut out anywhere near as much. It's got a tiny jut, but not much at all. It's almost totally flush with my plain band.

Re: Tiffany 2mm Channel Set diamond band--for future referen

I think it`s biting your nose to spite your face, to hold a grudge against Tiffany`s. If it suits your purpose to get their ring just do it! You could actually see it as closure.

However, there is something to be said for taking a (temporary) break from jewellery hunting and putting your energy and $ into other areas of your life and relationships. eg Putting in new windows can be really exciting when you see how much better your home looks and operates.

Re: Tiffany 2mm Channel Set diamond band--for future referen

We actually have set the appointments for the window bids, and we need our waterproofer back out for the basement as his fixing something actually brought a separate spot to our attention (boo!) but those are on the list this year. I'd also like to get a new sofa this year as DH has finally killed it so dead he fell through it. :nono:

Re: Tiffany 2mm Channel Set diamond band--for future referen

My instinct tells me you might like channel set. Very well protected and no prongs.

Please go to Cartier too if you can. I believe their prices are very competitive with Tiffany. I know their solid gold and platinum bands are less.

As of now, I don't plan to replace the band for a while. But we do not have a Cartier even within I believe a 6 hour drive, so it would be if we went to a city that had one. On their website their channel set isn't the right width (2.6mm I Believe) and is also substantially more expensive than the Tiffany equivilent.
