This may not be inline with most diamonds on this forum, but I feel like I really scored big when I opened up this beauty. You know that feeling that you get when you take a chance on something that you order online and hope like anything that you are going to love it when you first open the package. Well, this , for me, was a real WINNER. I loved it the minute I first laid eyes on it and I don't do that very often when it comes to my online jewelry/gemstone purchases. The stats are the cert/report. I know EGL is not the highest standards...but it certainly is nice to have a report. Something is better than nothing. I think the stone is very true to the report. It maybe a tiny bit warmer than the L color but I love that it is super sparkly and eye clean. I also love for an older cut stone to have a warmer hue to it. That is part of the charm. :appl: It is uniquely cut stone. Naturally I took oodles of pics. The first pic is from the seller. So now for setting options.............. hmmmmmmm???

I would be careful with the thin girdle and low crown...make sure you set it in a protective setting.

I love trannys (wish I had one!) You really lucked out because it is a shallow stone and measures really big for its carat weight yet
still looks bright and white. I bet it throws some nice color too. Enjoy your beautiful stone!

Not to worry about the EGL cert. Most old stones either dont have certs or have EGL certs (from what I've seen).

Great find!

Thank you everyone! slg47... I have definately taken note in that. Do you have any ideas what a safer ring setting would be for it? I know I definately want a deco/vintage style setting. I have my eye on a lovely setting that fits the budget of this stone but I still want to explore my options.

Yennyfire!! OMG, your avatar?? I remember the saga of your ering upgrade with the NY jeweler and then you replaced it with a local jeweler, but where is the link to this gorgeous ring??? OMG, I miss so much on this forum!! That is one of the most spectacular rings I have ever seen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks again everyone. I have a few settings ideas in mind but I am in no hurry. I will probably go with something more decoey. My aunt had the most gorgeous OEC ring that was in a Deco setting and prior to her passing, she told my cousin it was hers. Unfortunately, my cousin does not care about jewelry and it is probably sitting in a safe deposit box. ;( It truly deserves to be adorned. I want to try and replicate something in my aunt's memory. =)

CCN that's a pretty stone - sounds like a great find! :appl:

What a sweet idea ::) do you have some settings in mind, or do you plan to go custom? Do you have any pics of her ring you could share with us?

Maybe you will inspire your cousin to rescue it from the bank!! ;(

Thank you yssie! I will try to find some pics. I took pics of the ring after she had passed and I think they are on another computer that is now not working. The computer repair guy said he can recover all my files so hopefully I will have a pic of it up here soon. I also think I put some pics of it up on another forum but I can't remember.

Elam, welcome to the world of old cuts. This cut came about between the Old European and the modern brilliant cut. It "transitions" between them making it the Transitional cut.

I louped this the other day I like how it has a small open culet. Would be kinda cool to snip it a bit more to make it bigger.
