The center stone has not been mounted yet, but we did set it in there to get an idea of what it will look like. Also, the rubies will be changed for darker ones as I was not happy with the "pink" color. The oval is a 1.72 G, SI1. My hopefully soon to be fiance was looking for something unique, classic, and vintage with an oval center stone and no halo.20180505_115136_001.jpg 20180505_115559.jpg 20180505_115609.jpg

It’s beautiful!

It is an attractive setting but personally I don't think it comes off as "classic" or "vintage." I also suspect the little rubies may be at risk of cracking once your GF wears a wedding band next to the ER.

Did your GF show you any rings or does she have a Pinterest page or do you have more details as to her ring preferences?

Are you tied to the vendor who has the setting posted in this thread or can you go elsewhere? Do you have a budget?

;))Very pretty, I love the ruby accent. Have you had a chance to look at a few ovals?

I had the setting made from "ideas" from about 3 different settings that I got her opinion on.

^ it sounds like you've done your homework then ... perhaps just make sure a wedding band will rest safely next to the ER? I do like the oval you selected - well done.

The rubies can easily be replaced with small diamonds if they are an issue or if she doesn't like them.

Yes I have looked tirelessly :wall:at ovals for 4 months and finally decided this one. The next oval will be from August Vintage of she ever wants an upgrade. Unfortunately, he didn't have any ovals between the 1.5 and 2 carat range available.

Thank you! I originally chose a D colored oval with a L/W ratio of 1.23. That oval was incredibly bright and had tons of fire. It also lacked some of the "problem" areas ovals tend to have, but I thought it was just too round.

it's beautiful. I would love to wear that ring. I wouldn't worry about damage. A little ruby can always be replaced. I think it is a beautiful piece.

Beautiful ring!

Thanks for all of the comments. I put a lot of thought into and my jeweler was extemely patient.

You did an excellent job. Relax and enjoy the excitement of the proposal and the "YES!!!" answer. You sound like a devoted partner and I wish you all the happiness in the world.

I like the top view...since this is the rocky talk forum and not the SMTB forum and you asked for our thoughts...the side view is too much for me.
I dont consider it "classic". Thats not to say that your GF wont be thrilled with it. Its a matter of personal preference.

I completely agree a matching band can be created which will both protect the ruby and compliment the engagement ring beautifully.

Outside pics with the center stone mounted. I'm happy with the outcome. I was initially worried about the strong blue fluorescence, but I see no negative effects from it inside or outside.
