Thoughts on this sapphire?

Slight brown inclusion at the edge and it's got some light banding but no windows and the color is great. It's unheated. 4.04 carats. Beautiful stone.

With sapphires, much depends on the price and the type of treatment(s) used, not just color, clarity, and carat weight.

I would insist on a video or at least hand shots of the stone in inside light of various kinds. Also, a closeup sufficient to assess the brown inclusion you mention.

That said, its a great starting price from which to negotiate - unless the brown inclusion is significant or it significantly changes its color in other than the perfect lighting conditions the video was showing it in.

The vid seems to be made outside. I think with a blue sky above all sapphires look good, or better. I second TL, for that price I'd want to have proof of no heat. A bit cheap.

Im waiting on a close up video right now. I'll get an inside video and one shot under LED's as well.

I take it you are all right with that brown patch at the edge?
Also colouration indoors is important to me, but may not be to everyone.

I was wondering about it. With a halo would it be visible?

Shane: since you will continue looking, unless its from an established, reputable lab, its probably best to assume that sapphires have been treated (I say this because I'm not familiar with the Global Testing Lab and would not accept that as any indication that the stone had not been treated). If a seller is adamant that its unheated or heat only, have the sale made contingent upon a lab report from a reputable lab stating such. There are multiple trustworthy labs - you'd choose one depending upon your location and that of the seller. If you want to know more, let us know and we can give you more information.

Looks much less saturated in the face down photo. notice how pink the hand is in the other photos, versus this photo. I wonder if the white balance is off in order to enhance the color. I'm not sure how reputable that Lab is, I only really trust AGL and GIA and various European labs for sapphires.

TL: OP said he was moving on once he realized that the brown inclusion would be visible - he said he was moving on. :))

And apparently, despite the fact that I'm on my laptop and therefore don't even have the phone excuse, I still write redundancies in my sentences. I'll be moving on now...:twirl:

Hey, I'm ok with all information passed my way. I'd prefer a GIA report with the stone. I had almost purchased another prior to this but this group... I can't express enough gratitude.

But with some guidance on a other thread I was able to reach out to Siamgold78 tonight. He's going to find me the sapphire I need, I will post pictures and his videos as soon as it's ready. Almost all of his stones are GIA certified.

Fwiw, AGL is considered a better lab than GIA.
