Thoughts on this oval?

Looking for an oval in the 3-3.5 carat range. I’m new to LGD (and ovals) and not sure what to look for as far as cut parameters or other criteria. For example, is HPHT preferable to CVD? This is CVD, claims to be a “very good” cut, and seems to be a really good price. Thoughts?

some prefer HPHT - I myself don't feel that way but there are those who feel that the HPHT process and an 'as grown' stone are superior.

This has potential to be a very nice stone, and the price is certainly favorable.

An igi G is an igi G because the grade is the material grade not how it appears.
However your thoughts are not that different than mine.
Lots of mush with color entrapment that is going to show more color than a G color better cut stone.
And it does have a pretty bad bow tie.

You can do very well for that budget. Outside of going to a vendor to source for you (always an option) there’s some gcal stones out there I really like:

They do evaluate for optical brilliance, so their reports give a little more information about what you're likely to get.

They do have a new ideal grade out for ovals, 8x, but I have to say that some of the "excellent' stones that I've seen that did not make the 8x grade have been more appealing to me visually.

The lab color grade for D-Z is not the color you see face up, its graded face down and is the material grade.
The face up apparent color for any given material color can vary. Many reasonably well cut stones showing less and badly cut stones showing more.

Warmer than a G doesn't make it a J. There's a whole bunch of color grades in there. You can't accurately color grade from a video like this beyond saying "looks warmer than a G" which is not what you said.
