I already purchased this but am well within the 30 day return window. I ideally wouldn’t want to return this but just want to be 100% sure I got the best possible diamond. The cushion cut diamond I have is 3.04 carats, I color, medium fluorescence, VS1 clarity, and has 67.4% depth and 67% table. It has very good symmetry and excellent polish. Above are the ASET report and ideal scope. Additionally, the Scanox report of this came back excellent on scintillation, brightness, and fire. I’m interested to hear others thoughts. It looked beautiful but I’d certainly like to have the opinion of experts. Thanks in advance!

I also have videos on my phone which I am trying to figure out how to upload.

You will need to upload videos to YouTube or Vimeo or similar.

Are you happy with the stone? The images are pretty good for a cushion, although there is some leakage round the outer facets under the table - which is not unusual.

I do like it, but the last day I saw it, it didn’t seem as sparkly and I suspect maybe because it wasn’t clean. I have read that some cushions can sometimes appear even more sparkly than a round and I’m ultimately going for the sparkliest cushion I can get. Anyways, I finally got around to getting videos up. One is taken under spotlighting and the other is taken under regular lighting.

I'm glad you had a second chance to see it - like buying cars, shoes, beds and houses, we spend far too little time actually trying out the things we spend a lot of money on and which we spend a lot of time using over the coming years!

It's good that you also got to see it in more normal lighting rather than the 'magic' spotlights!

It may just be obstruction from your clothing / your phone, but I think I can see areas of darkness under the table in the videos, which could be the areas of leakage in the ASETscope and IdealScope images?

How do you feel about it? I think it could be worth asking to see it outside under flat, cloudy skies (if you have them). You could ask them to clean it but you could also ask what else they have (and shop around online) - lots of options!

I think it's stunning. Can I ask where you got it from, please? And I love that style of faceting pattern!

These are all good suggestions but unfortunately I’d only be able to request a video of it. I had traveled to NY just to make this purchase and am no longer there. If I could do better than this I’d have to ask them to bring in something else and send me videos. I also have a few other videos of the diamond that I could post that might help determine whether it’s obstruction. For purchasing the diamond, I went with IDJ if you’re familiar with them. I just want to be 100% sure about this cushion.

Sure! I got it from IDJ. This has the standard x-factor cut based on the GIA report. Any thoughts on the ASET and Idealscope reports?

Well, IDJ is a recommended vendor on here so you are in safe hands, and I am sure they would want you to be 100% happy with your purchase, so if you are not completely and totally in love with it (and it is not 'singing' to you) then that might be a sign that it is not 'the one'.

On the flip side of the coin, it could be that you are hesitant to drop that sort of money on something if you are not 100% sure it is as good as you could buy - which I totally get!

There are always more diamonds coming through the pipeline and onto the market so if you are just not sure right now... there's nothing wrong with thanking them but saying you'd like to leave it, but please let you know if/when other stock comes in as you are still keen to buy.

You should also feel confident to ask them to provide any videos you might like to see, as I am sure they would oblige if it helps you feel more confident in your purchase (although if you are like me, you might well not want to feel like you are putting people out if you are unsure whether you are going to proceed or not!).

FWIW I think it is one of the better cushions out there, and if @mrs-b thinks it is good, I would definitely take her experienced eye over mine!

My concern is exactly what you mentioned. I’m not 100% sure it is as good as I could get. As I’m not an expert, I wanted the expert opinion of ps’ers who have more knowledge than me and can opine. After all, this is a once in a lifetime purchase.

I really appreciate your input on this matter as I’m sure you must know more than I do when it comes to diamonds. I will try to work with them to get a 360 degree magnified view of the diamond to share. I figure this will be good to have for my records, but can also help others opine.

    Good/great. Not exceptional, however.

So you would go back to the drawing board? I can ask them to bring in a few more to compare to.

It is a 3+ carat stone. You do not see too many options in this carat range. Most are cut to preserve the weight. It depends on the price you payed, what is available, how you like this stone so far, and how much more hassle you are willing to go thru.
I agree with @mrs-b. Although there is leakage, the facet pattern and the distribution of light leakage can be seen as attractive.
