Thoughts on this Diamond

Hi there,

I'm a long time lurker for the past couple years (ever since I seriously considered getting engaged) and have learned a lot from this community in this time re: diamonds and colored gems.

David from GOG was able to bring in this diamond for me to consider and I was wondering if I could get your thoughts regarding the stone. David mentioned that he was able to make out the inclusions if he went out of his way to spot them, but that they were not the type that were obvious or bothersome to him.

I'm a bit worried that the inclusions are going to be a bit too easy to see, and was hoping for maybe something a little more eye clean.

Please also see below three diamonds, the diamond in question is in the middle and on the left and right are two G colored Ascendancy Diamonds from GOG. To my eyes, it looks like the H colored diamond appears whiter than the two G colored diamonds.

Ditto! I’d pass on that one personally, and I’m generally pretty tolerant/accepting of clarity/color characteristics others would ordinarily pass on.

it actually looks pretty good in the video. I'd just ask David what he thinks. GOG is a reputable vendor so he will be honest.

Hi Habfan.

It's not possible from the video to judge the inclusions and any effect they may or may not have on performance/ beauty unfortunately. I can't open the report to see what the grade making inclusions are for some reason.

It looks to be a pretty stone and the proportions are good but I can't tell any more than that, if you have doubts after David said he can see the inclusions if he made an effort to do so and presumably, you and the wearer also have young eyes, maybe see what else is out there.

Edit...couldnt see video on GOG site but could see the one you posted. I think I would want a comparison
video with another similar stone with a higher clarity.

Thanks for the replies everyone. David replied to my concerns and said that he doesn't think the inclusions affect light performance. Here's a video of the diamond next to a 1.52 G SI1 H&A diamond.

I'm finding it a little difficult to pick out the differences between the two, although it seems like the arrows in the H&A cut are more pronounced and contrasty looking.

That being said, one rock is almost twice the amount as the other..
