Any opinions in this cushion from ERD?

Shape: Cushion
Carat Weight: 1.34

Cut Grade: Excellent
Depth: 67.60%
Table: 58.00%

Measurements: 6.82x5.84x3.95 mm

I'm new to cushions and while I'm trying to read up on all the information that's out there, I'm still confused about exactly what I should be looking for...as a jumping point where should I go from here?

Thanks!

Looks good but GIA does not give a cut grade for any shape other then a round brilliant cut. G-VS2 is my ideal combination.

My budget for the cushion is about 8,000. I'm looking into a custom halo setting after that. Anything out there I should be looking for in that price range? I was looking at rounds originally but after trying on a few halos, I absolutely love them. I have a cushion cut birthstone that was past down to me, so I feel like it's what I'm most used to seeing on my finger. I prefer the slightly rectangular cushions to square, and I also like the modern cuts. I would ideally like 1.5, will my budget allow that?

Thanks for all the help! I watched a video from GOG that was on here and it was immensely helpful to learn a little more about what to look for in a cushion without seeing it in person.

You can easily go down to an H. And honestly I would go down to an I in a well cut cushion with a nice ASET and performance.

I'll look around for you.

You said you want modern faceting.

And SI1 eyeclean, especially in a modern cushions, which are good at hiding inclusions, is something I'd consider.

ERD has a great eye for cushions. But we need pictures and an ASET on that stone. I PERSONALLY, if I were looking for a cushion would call ERD and ask them to look for the brightest and best performing, largest G-H-I modern cushion, eyeclean for 8000 dollars. They will get you everything you need. I think they are great and I would happily work with them on this.

You have to buy cushions based on light return and faceting. That's pretty much it. So you need pictures and ASET images.

Options at other vendors:
Hearts and Arrows Cushions:

http://www.bluenile.com/diamond-search?pt=sig&track=NavDiaSigCU#diamonds_pid=LD04149900 SO, I'm sure you know we normally say do not shop for fancies on Blue Nile as there are no images and you need images and ASETs to shop fancies. That still stands. However Blue Nile has a new line of hearts and arrows cushions that come with GCAL reports that has images and some light return information. So this is one of those.

Generic Modern Faceted:

You don't buy cushions by carat weight. You buy by the dimensions. A 1.3 carat cushion can be larger than a 1.5 carat cushion. It just depends on the proportions and the faceting.

Options at JA. Pick three. Put on Hold. Ask for an ASET. It will take a few days. So you will put them on hold (no cost no obligations) till they get the ASETs for you.

Thanks so much! ERD is actually near my hometown and I'll be going home in a few weeks and intend to make a visit to see what I can see in person and get a better idea of performance. I know with cushions I keep hearing carat size doesn't matter as much a dimensions, so as far as that goes, what should I be looking for? It is the table and depth that can make a 1.5 smaller than a 1.3?

Thanks for all the help, I am fascinated by how much there is too learn about diamonds.

There are well over a dozen facet patterns with cushions. Each of them need different things in terms of angles, table and depth in order to maximize performance. So you can't rule out deeper depths because you might be ruling out some really nice diamonds.

If you are going to go with ERD: MAKE AN APPOINTMENT IN ADVANCE and ask them to CALL IN STONES for you.
