Thoughts on these BGD Lab?

Hey all-I’m debating if we might want to take advantage of Nov sales with BGD and upgrade my ring with a lab grown diamond. I currently have a natural BGD signature. Would there be any hesitations with going with either of these stones below? I keep going back and forth if I want to chance getting a non-branded stone, or if I want a branded one (price is the drawback lol). At the end of the day I think my mind may need to know that it’s super ideal….. thank you for the feedback!!

Edit to add-I don’t mean upgrade as in get rid of my natural diamond. I would either replace my center stone with the new lab and keep my currently side stones, or I’d do a completely new ring and move my current three stone to my right hand….

I think the 2.32 is more precisely cut than the others.

Thank you for that feedback! So I can learn, is that bc of the ASET imaging? Or numbers or video?

I think the 2.32 has more even looking hearts and ASET images, and it also looks more evenly lit in the fire video. The rounded numbers on the reports doesn’t tell you anything about cut precision.

Thank you-that makes sense! So look at the images more than anything else?

Hearts and ASET images for comparing cut precision.

I think the difference in cut between the 2.32 and 2.01 is close enough that the size difference likely makes more difference though.

Oh boy, I may just need to relinquish control and let the experts pick here. I can’t see a difference between the 2.51 and the 2.32!!!

Are the 2.32 and 2.01 super ideal, or should I be looking at a different vendor?

I would not pay branded pricing for the 2.51.

I haven’t compared any BG deluxe in person, but I suspect the 2.32 should be comparable to the BG natural signatures in terms of cut. Not sure about the 2.01.

Ok that helps thank you! I want something comparable to my BGD natural signature that I have now…. Just bigger. lol. Which is why I keep leaning toward BGD, I guess bc I already have one and love it.

I have a pair of BG H&A cushions. A D VS1 BG premium lab and a E SI1 blue. I cannot tell them apart without a loupe or UV light.

Oh that’s good to know! Thats what I’m striving for. I’m going to keep an eye on the sales, and if premium goes on sale I’ll try to snag one of those. I’m trying to keep to $4500 max, so thinking around $3000 (ish) for the stone and $1500 ish for the setting.

What is a “branded” diamond?

Considering the price difference I would opt for the 2.32. I think it’s close enough to the premium cuts.

I don’t like the quality of the CVD material on the 2.46/2.29/2.19. I think BG simply brands them based on cut precision, just like how natural diamonds with more visible graining and inclusions can make it into their signature lines.

Ok THAT clicked in my brain lol. Thank you! It’s funny because the Deluxe labs are HPHT and the Premium labs are CVD, and I read that CVD can be more prone to some of the graining and straining issues.

Thoughts on this one? https://www.briangavindiamonds.com/...n-lab/products/2-72-e-vs1-bg-deluxe-lab-round

To me, I wonder if the ASET image doesn’t look quite as nice as the 2.32? Am I looking correctly or am I off? The size and price seemed nice.

Yes the 2.72 is definitely less precisely cut. I don’t see any point in paying branded pricing for that. Can easily find better cut ones in virtual inventory for less.

Ok yay, I’m getting it I think LOL

I agree - and I'm on the fence about the 2.32 since it's not a BG Premium so I think that the price tag is quite a bit steep at $3200 for an IGI graded diamond with ASET Scope images - BarbieB it might be worth checking with JannPaul about pricing for a 2.1-2.4 Decagon or Nova LGD.

I can find you quite a few clean HPHT GIA graded diamond at D VS1+ for quite a bit less, if you're interested in seeing some options for 8 main rounds.

Here's one example...it is listed for just under $1800.

Thank you so much for the input and feedback!

I think the international piece intimidates me too much for JannPaul.

But, I really think I should think through seeking help on here to get a H&A stone. I just really want it to look like my BGD natural signature, and have that reassurance with the images and certificates if that makes sense. But, if BGDs mark up is that much it’s absolutely ridiculous for me to pay more for the same thing! I could use experts like you all and then go to David Klass for the new setting.

I’m not ready to pull the trigger just yet (working out funds), but my main priority is cut, and then size. I want at least a 2.2-my current stone is a 1.2, and in my mind I want a full carat or more increase. I’d go as big as a 3 I believe, my side stones are .33 each for my three stone. Then, price. I need to be around $3000 for the stone or less. Honestly, that $2000 mark would be awesome. But only if it’s going to give me the same cut quality as I’d get with BGD. Does this make sense, and is this doable? I’m not color sensitive, my current stone is an I. Clarity id like VS2 or better but I think would labs that’s easy to do?

Thank you for the help!

Also, the link above doesn’t have ASET images I don’t think? Am I missing something?

Oh I’m a dodo. It’s on the GIA report. Okaaaay….. I’m coming around to this now. I think I am going to lean on yall as experts-these are basically the same images as BGD gives!

LOL no worries...GIA now owns AGS so they now offer an optional AGS Light Performance addendum. Not many GIA graded diamonds come with this assessment addendum, so finding one at a great price is quite a treat right now.

oh that’s good to know too! Ok, I need to figure out if I’m going to bite the bullet. I’m a little intimidated to buy a diamond, have it sent to me, then send my current ring and the new diamond to get a setting. In theory-if I buy a diamond with all the images and videos, would I be “safe” to just send directly to David Klass? Or would it be better to have it sent to me, and then send everything together? That would also give me opportunity to inspect the diamond I guess which is good…

Yes, you'll be perfectly safe to send it to Mr Klass - he's quite reputable and there is so much positive testimony here at PriceScope about him and his benchwork quality.
You have all the info that you need right there on the ASG Light Performance addendum...it has a bona fide ASET image from a three-dimensional scan performed in the lab during the grading process.
Please don't forget to insure the existing ring as well as the new diamond prior to shipping!

I echo what Deja is saying about sending directly to DK. I’ve completed numerous projects with his team and have had very enjoyable experience!

@DejaWiz for my education purposes, is this Whiteflash option any better than the diamond you found earlier?

Also, I talked to David and we worked out a great setting and cost. I just need to decide when to bite the bullet and find a stone.

Hi, Barbie - I'd venture that if sitting side by side, then they'd be indistinguishable to probably 99.99% of people on the planet.
