I'm interested in buying a ~2ct. H&A cushion and would like to get your thoughts on a few diamonds as I refine my search. I'd previously asked about girdle feathers but would like thoughts on the stones, overall. I'm interested in ~2ct, F+ color, would prefer VS+, but would accept an SI1 that is eye clean that comes from a trustworthy gemologist.

Here are the three.

#1 (says sold but i'd like to get your comparative thoughts)

#2 (cheapest of the four)

#3 (largest)

#4 (best clarity. is it worth the extra money?)

How would you rank them? Anyone see any significant differences?

Thanks for any help.

The outline shape of the BGD stones are just not "cushiony" to me. They are too square.

I much prefer the GOG stones because they look like 'real' cushions to me. Just as an FYI I have seen lovely Hearts and Arrows cushions from Blue Nule. And JA is now showing some.

You might want to look there as well.

Good call Gypsy. Although not H&A's, I see plenty of 8-main cushions on James Allen now. Looks like the merchants are seeing that these are the "it" cushion styles which are selling quicker. Nice to see supply on these diamonds catching up a bit for avid cushion hunters.

Aardvark43, I love the newer cut BGD cushions (options 1 & 2 you posted). I did consider one for my fiance as well but in the end, she preferred a different style. I think they're both lovely choices and would lean towards #1 if still available. Would rank 3&4 in order respectively.

I also greatly prefer the GOG stone as I also do not like the shape of the ones at BG.

Interesting. I hadn't really thought about the shape. Here is a side-by-side of the BG (on the left) and GOG (on the right) stone. I guess I can see a slight difference. If anything, BG stone has more rounded corners?

If you look at the top, for example, the GOG stone has more of a curve to the top edge (more cushion shaped). It is hard to explain in words. I also prefer the arrow orientation on the GOG stone.

The other problem with the BG stones is that you cannot compare diameter measurements with any other cushion because theirs are using corner to corner measurements instead of diameter. I think that is somewhat deceptive, and I am just glad someone here knew and told us that in the past.

It's subtle. But the alignment of the arrows under the table makes the BGD one look more square and the GOG one more cushiony to me.

These ASET out as good as the BGD diamonds.

All BN Signature line stones are guaranteed eyeclean at Si1.

You can see the pictures of the stones on the GCAL certificate.

Personally, considering the quality is the same. The size is the same. And the color and clarity is the same, I would save the $$$$$ and go for one of these.

Seriously. That's a LOT of money you would be saving. Enough for a gorgeous setting from Steven Kirsch or Victor Canera.

Was able to secure the stone listed as #1 in my original post, a Brian Gavin H&A cushion. Went with the BGD Novela setting.

Ring is absolutely gorgeous. Got the stone independently appraised in NYC and the appraiser was awestruck by the cut and brilliance of the stone.

Hats off to Brian Gavin and his team.
