Thoughts on these 2+ carat ACA I SI1s

I think it is from the small cluster of feather inclusions.
For me, it is a non issue. It is better to have this cluster near the edge than under the table. I do not know what setting you have in mind, but the cluster can be perfectly hidden if you go with a 6-prong setting.

See where the prong at 3:30 sits, just off the arrowhead.

Since you have quite a few great alternatives, I wouldn't get stuck on a stone with light falloff at the edge. You may not be able to see the feathers themselves but the ASET is showing you that they're affecting light performance. You could cover up that area with a prong but why worry about it and have it affect your setting choice? You'll have to decide if size is most important. Either way there are all ACA's and will be stunning overall.

Because it's visibly significantly bigger, well priced, very favourable proportions, a high I colour, and those characteristics outway the negligible difference visible by those feathers. At least here you know exactly where the inclusions are, all si1s are si1 for a reason. This is a great find IMO, ask WF if you're concerned about the edge feathers but I highly doubt they will be any issue.

Attached are photos of the final additional contenders that Whiteflash helpfully sent along this morning. The 2.521 looks great to me in this set - frankly, it looks even whiter than the H to my eye. (The middle diamond has pretty visible tint.) I don’t see an issue with the relatively small table - 54.3 - but does anyone else?

They also sent along additional photos of a few smaller stones, including a pretty amazing H VS2 2.218 with a 60.4 depth. (8.44 x 8.49). It’s priced at $3.5k more than the larger 2.521, however, so I’m inclined to take the 2.521 between those two. Any thoughts on the 2.218?

What is the mm on the 2.5 and 2.46? It could just be the photo but the 2.46 appears larger.

2.46 is 8.64 x 8.67. 2.521 is 8.75 x 8.76, so it's probably just the photo.

Of course now there is a small part of me that just wants to go nuts and get this 2.925'er. I know my gf would never upgrade, and this one has great depth so it probably plays closer to a 3 carat in size:

The ASET and Ideal-Scope images on this 2.925 look insane.

2.521 is my favorite!

I'm going a little cross eyed staring at your various images and I think that I am leaning with the 2.7.

In your two posts today, i think that both middle diamonds may be reflecting something that is yellow giving it a "tint" I bet if the photographer shuffled them around that "tint" will be gone from the diamond but will stay on whichever diamond is in the middle.

Ummmmm....yeah that 2.9 yummy but I think either the 2.7 or 2.9 is going to blow her away so it depends on the budget.

HI:

Paralysis by analysis.:P2

As you said....go all out---bring/ship your favorite three home...and decide IRL. YOU decide then let "us" know.:wavey:

Firstly, if it’s an ACA stone then you can trust no
Matter what you choose, it will be visually stunning. WHEN you look at it set, in 9mm true to life size, you’re not going to see what you’re splitting hairs about.

Whiteflash are genuinely honest. Ask your relationship manager these questions, they will request the gemologist re-examine the stones and reassure you. They can also look at other angles etc... splitting hairs aside, I agree with the majority consensus above.

If you like a stone, reserve it. Otherwise others may before you. First in, best dressed.

Thanks, everyone for your input! It was great to take advantage of everyone's expertise here - you all know a ton about this stuff and many of the threads here saved me from making a mistake in purchasing a diamond in-store. I had no clue about the HCA tool or "super ideal" cuts before reading the threads here.

I ultimately settled on the 2.521 last night and placed my order this morning. I just couldn't see much of a size difference between the 2.521 and the 2.735 and that, coupled with the minor light leakage on the 2.735 (and the extra $4000 cost), was enough to sway me towards the 2.521. The 2.92 was a beautiful diamond, but I similarly couldn't say it's worth $10,000 over the 2.521 for a relatively modest gain in size.

I'll post pics once it's here!

Beautiful choice! We can’t wait to see the pics! Your fiancé-to-be will be thrilled, such a gorgeous diamond!

HI:

Good for you (both)! Love your deductive logic--resulting in a FABU choice!

cheers--Sharon

Fabulous!!! Having a closer look st the photos, the diamond you chose is stunning. It looks on the higher grade of “I” and ... I cannot imagine anyone being unhappy with a >2Ct whiteflash diamond.

Good luck with the setting.

And definitely made the right choice. Anything over 2Ct already looks decidedly large!

Thanks, everyone.

For the setting, I went with Whiteflash's Knife-Edge six prong in platinum with the knife edge softened (huge shout out to HappyNewLife for her pics, advice, and separate thread on that ring!).

I do have a question, though - I asked for the diamond to be set at a medium height. Should I revise that suggestion? Will it tend to snag on fabrics at that height? I'm wondering whether I should revise that request to a low setting . . .

Generally, medium/medium-low height is appreciated by many. Setting as low as possible will make the diamond appear slightly smaller vs a higher setting. At 2.5ct, if it will knock into something at medium height, it will probably still get knocked at low height. As long as the prong heads are finished well, you won't have a problem with snagging. Great choice of setting btw! Please post lots of pics once finished.

A 2.5Ct diamond is going to be stunning. I would not set that high and suggest trusting the jeweller. You can always ask them to send a CaD model or photographs of a similar ring before confirming.

2Ct rings are heavier, spin and more prone to being knocked. Heck. The Fi dropped hers onto tiles within the first week and banged it around!

Hers was also a whiteflash ACA and whilst not quite as large as yours, whiteflash settings are study and well made.

Do you have a picture to share of the WF softened knife edge with your new diamond?

Lore,

I’ll share pics as soon as I get it. Whiteflash is still setting it - it’s taking a bit longer due to the customization and time of year.

I asked for the diamond to be set at a medium height. Should I revise that suggestion?

Do you know how high it would be from table to finger ? My tolerance is very LOW for this ...

Looking forward to seeing the glamour shots.

By the way, you can ask for additional glamour shots. WF are one of those companies that try to please. But if you don't ask, you don't necessarily receive!

Hey All -

Sorry for the delay in posting pics, but things have been a whirlwind over the past few weeks!

I ended up proposing to my now-fiancee on December 29 - here are a few pics! Thanks again to everyone for your help in reaching a decision. She's extremely happy with how the ring turned out.

Beautiful! Thanks for coming back to share. I think the stone proportionally looks amazing on her graceful hands. The background where you proposed looks stunning as well! Congrats!
