Thoughts on modifying this chain?

Hello fellow antique lovers. Allow me to pick your collective brains for a moment. I recently purchased this lovely antique chain, but it's a length and style I don't really wear. The chain is 28" and slips on over the head, but it hits me at an awkward spot, given I'm rather busty.


Would it be sacrilege to remove the chain, and convert it to a pendant, possibly like one of these?

Unless it’s got a specific historical provenance or is the only example of its type left in the world, I can’t see that making it so you will actually wear it would be sacrilegious.
If it’s going to cost a bit to convert it, is it worth it or would you be better off selling it and buying exactly what you want instead?

I always say it’s worse to have a piece go unworn than to modify it and make it wearable.

Awesome piece by the way, these fist chains are so hot right now.

What about shortening the chain to a length you like and use the balance for a bracelet?

I think you should change it so it can be worn.
It's not that big of an alteration, so why not?
Then you will wear it and love it!

Yes, and maybe make the clasps small and compatible so you could re-unite if you or someone else wanted to down the line.
