Hi Everyone!
First time poster here I’ve started my diamond research journey a few weeks back and have learned tons reading the forum. Issue though is I’m not close to deciding what I want and from whom I want to buy the engagement ring. Most interesting I’ve learned through the process is JannPaul’s innovation in the way their diamonds are cut. Have you guys heard or considered their newest creation, the Decagon?
I’m tempted but will have to allocate 8.5% on duties alone from the budget since I live in Canada.
Otherwise, considering buying from Whiteflash/Jamesallen if the local jewellers can’t provide the info needed to make an informed purchase.
Anyone else ask feel like you’ve researched too much and now feel the need to ask for the ASET, Idealscope and hearts images along with video before considering any diamond?
I was at the JP just now to view their Decagon offerings, yes very sparkly and less chunkier. I love the designs of their ring settings too...very unique.
How is this any different than a solasfera if they both claim 10 hearts and arrows?
I see that both are 10 hearts and arrows but solasfera has 91 facets and decagon 111 facets. Maybe one of the experts can weigh in on what that might mean for visual differences?

That's cool! You are talking about the facets being less chunkier right? Did this make it too splintery, or hard to catch big enough facet reflections to show the colored flashes? We wonder how differently it performs in video & real life?

Posting another post to my post here lol. Their site says 111 facets and then says 121 facets. I do not know which of their information is the real one
was the faceting pattern "less chunkier" ??
I did ask JannPaul about Decagon price 2weeks ago. And I don’t think I want to pay the price. I mean the price premium is too much from ACA, HPD, CIH and even BGD. I cannot justify the premium price as I can get wonderful wonderful diamonds from super ideal vendors I mentioned above. I will quote their reply to me:
“a Decagon Cut 10 Hearts & Arrows (111 facets), 2ct+, G Colour VS will range from USD 33,000 (including 7% GST).”
That is an exact reply from them. As 2.114 G VS2 would exactly cost $26675. I cannot justify to pay $4-5000 extra with decagon.
With $33k I can get a 2ct D-F VS2 ACA why would I get a G with the same price?
for me personally, with $33K I can get this:
I can’t justify why I got much much smaller with same amount of money.
With Decagon the size difference would be like this, and this one is size &price difference between G&H too:
*the G is GIA 3ex
I am confused.. Why would you ask for the price of a Decagon (a completely different cut) and compare it with the ACA from white flash when they are 2 different type of diamond cutting?
JP also carries SIC for round shaped diamonds and they are cheaper than a decagon.
