Hello all! I've been searching for a diamond in the Houston area for the last year or so, and I've found lots of tips and suggestions on PriceScope...thanks to everyone for that! I believe that I have finally found a diamond to purchase and propose with in the next few months. My longtime girlfriend and I have been together for nearly 8 years, and I'm hoping to propose this summer.

I finally officially registered with PriceScope in search of some advice. Can y'all please have a look at the diamond pictured below and give me your thoughts/opinions (good, bad, or ugly!). The "cushion modified brilliant" diamond was rated by GIA as 1.90 carat, I color, VS1 clarity. Polish is "very good" and symmetry is "good." The measurements are 7.58 x 6.71 x 4.37 mm.

I really appreciate all of the help. The jeweler that I'm working with is looking to sell it to me for around $13k.

Thank you!

This diamond is on the longer length to width ratio side and has a rectangular outline. If this is what you want, by all means go ahead, the price is about right.

Most cushions tend to have a squarish appearance.

Thanks for the thoughts, DLA. The length is something I considered, but I know my girlfriend tends to like them on the "elongated" side, so I think she'll be okay with it.

Any other opinions?

Thanks!

There is nothing wrong with a rectangular cushions and in fact there are many rectangular cushions out there.

The photos are too small for me to judge the face pattern. What is the table and depth percentages?

Have you seen the diamond in different lighting conditions?

Great link! I hadn't read that one, but it was very useful. For that diamond, table is 61% and depth is 65.2%. Based on that link, my table % is a little high for his/her "ideal" specs.

I've never seen the diamond in sunlight, but I've seen it under his "diamond" light that I am sure makes it look good. I've also seen it under a couple of other normal "office" type lightings in the office that I've been in.

"diamond" lighting can make a dog sparkle  so take that with a grain of salt. However, the office lighting in my office can make a dull stone look pretty dull, so if it sparkles in your office lighting, thats a good sign. However, who knows if the lighting is the same.
