Thoughts on 4.33 EC

Thank you!!
The center facet pattern is messing with my eyes. I think it’s due to the fact that it’s resting on Pavilion Facet 3. Every time an EC is recorded sitting on P3, it’s so difficult to evaluate! This drives me bananas!
Other than that, it’s lovely, and clean as a whistle. I barely see any tint...
Really? Maybe I should see if it’s still available! Ugh! I thought a K for sure would be too yellow

Hints, here & there. It’s sitting against a white back drop; it looks really white, at most angles. There is a little hint of yellow from time to time, depending on the angle, but very little, considering it’s shown against a white background. I’d expect to see a stronger contrast for a K.

@mathhews1127 thanks so much for always responding with advice! I will see if it’s abailable tomorrow. It wasn’t so much yellow but maybe amber color... just a tint I guess

It’s very beautiful! Amber in a diamond gives it character, especially an EC! I do hope you like it! It seems to be very playful, and could very well be “the one” you’re looking for!! The final test will be with your naked eyes, in varied lighting environments!

@Matthews1127 Will keep you updated! I do like white diamonds so not sure how I will feel about this one=)2

That’s understandable!! You won’t know until you see it, in person! It will either romance you, or turn you off. You’ll know rather quickly, if K is your color...lol!

It was an I, out of my price range, but looks so white to me. Darn!

If you're going down to a K, look for a K with blue Fluor.

Just a point of reference...

From nail to palm - H, I, K and K

Baguettes are F/G and EC is K

@PintoBean I amazed your EC is a K!! Wow, gorgeous!! Thank you so much for posting. Do you mind me asking the size of your EC?

I was really surprised by the apparent lack of colour. I couldn’t see it in natural light, but I put it against my H colour marquise diamond, so I was comparing them in the same light source, and honestly, it wasn’t that tinted. When I read it was an M, I was expecting it to be far more tinted than it was.

I louped it, I think they said it was VVS, and I couldn’t see any inclusions, mind you, i was just enjoying having that rock on my finger for a few minutes, but it looked pretty spectacular to me.

That's so interesting, @Austina, and so good to know! This once again confirms for me that there are EC's whose beauty surpasses their color grade, so to speak! It's really gorgeous!!! Thank you for sharing this with us - and I loved the mystery game of your post!!!

Hi, @Emeraldsaremyfavorite! I just wanted to let you know that I'm still following along with you on your search and I know how frustrating it can be.
Before I decided on my stone, I was very seriously considering a K. I had it at home for a couple of weeks but ultimately, I decided it was too tinted despite having great optics. Ironically, I ended up with an L! But my L looks less tinted than the K did - go figure!! (I had shown the K to two separate jewelers I had done business with in the past and they both voluntarily said that the L somehow appeared less tinted than the K - that it in fact looked more like an H, so it wasn't my imagination!). There must be an explanation! I'm thinking it's got to be the cut or some factor of the rough itself! Neither of the two stones had any florescence. But I have heard that florescence helps lower colored stones appear whiter in certain lights.
As I mentioned before, IDJ showed me a beautiful 5.5 carat J EC with SBF that showed up very white with no visible tint. But when I held it next to my stone, even with its great spread, it exhibited none of the sparkle or scintillation that my L did. And even though it was less money, it wasn't worth going up in color to end up with less sparkle, to me.
Which leads me to say to you once again, that you must view the stone and let your eyes do the choosing. :)

@Blingalingaling I’m following you as well!! It’s so frustrating with ECs! No direct formula and so many factors to consider. Unfortunately, I don’t live close to dealers so each stone I order in has to be sent and a bank wire transfer set up. So not so easy:( right now I keep my “ring money” in investments and don’t want to pull it out unless I’m sure of a purchase. So makes it difficult. Something will come along and thanks for your thoughts!

@Emeraldsaremyfavorite - sorry I have been traveling all week so couldn’t do this earlier. I wanted to give you the side my side comparison of an I colour Asscher with a J emerald cut. Neither stone has any fluorescence.

Absolute colour in the second photo looks a little tinted but the stones are also picking up the off-white / cream walls but I thought the relative colour between the two might help you.

Neither looks yellow when I wear them. One does see a distinct warm tone if I put either next to an D/E eternity band.

Beautiful! Thank you for sharing and I don’t see the difference between the I and J in these pics! Do you mind sharing the dimensions of your EC? I love chunkier cuts:)
