Thoughts on 4.33 EC

Best I can tell was it WAS listed by the smaller eBay seller with the crappier photos. This seller listed the finger size at 5.5 looks like it’s been sized - maybe with white gold? To the new listing with size 8.5

@Niel ... yep saw this! Liked the ratio as I like fatter stones but the medium yellow fluorescence through me off? And eBay does scare me a rad with this big of a purchase

And it is completely overpriced... by about 15K... in my opinion:)

Medium yellow fluor? In a diamond that isn't graded as yellow?

I'm not sure that would be a good thing unless you are completely comfortable with lower colours, because it might look tinted in UV-rich light.

It’s overpriced at 39k? You’d think if that we’re true you’d be finding more stones than you’re finding.

I saw 55k for some reason... hmmm. The medium yellow Florescence would be out anyhow. Thanks for looking for me though!

Hi, I'm glad you're passing on both of these stones, but I want to chime in and say, absolutely to stay away from stones with yellow (or any other color besides blue) florescence! :)

I read your other thread, because I'm following your journey closely, too, and I think you're doing the right thing passing on this J-color EC! First of all, it's a hassle for you to get to see, secondly, it doesn't ASET well (in my opinion that blue is overwhelming.). Blue can be good in limited amounts because it helps create contrast. So, you want some blue alternating with red and some green, But in this case, there's a lot of blue concentrated in thick bars, so I think you'd be getting obstruction rather than seeing thin, flashing bars of light creating the step pattern you want. Maybe that wouldn't be the case when you move the stone, because an ASET is static, but I'm dubious of this one.
Third, the video you posted did show a fair amount of tint and I'm not sure about that black crystal under the table-looks to me like it's going to be visible. Look, you could go down to SI2 and maybe find something with a white inclusion that doesn't show as much as a black one would, since you said you're not hung up on clarity as much as color. That might be a way to achieve size and color within your budget. Have you considered going down in clarity, but still looking for that unicorn? I know they're out there and since it's an effort finding an SI stone with color you can live with, if you search to SI2, maybe you can even find one that's more eye clean than this! Then you'd have the color you want and you'd be compromising a little more on the clarity.

I think if you can't see the stone in person then you should stay away from stones that might be too tinted IRL to you. If that's your kryptonite, then you know yourself. Make sure to get what you KNOW will be in your comfort zone. :)

Here is one Shulamit, ID Jewelry just sent over. Some dark bands but I’m not looking for perfection. Initially thoughts?

Darn... can’t attach video, too large.

Have you seen a stone with yellow fluorescence?
Hi, Niel, forgive me for jumping in, but I saw one recently when I was browsing around on 47th St. in the NYC Diamond District! It was a square cut cornered modified brilliant-I think that's a radiant(?), already set in platinum and I loved its size (6.57 ct.) and how it was set, so I took pictures of it and downloaded the Cert! I remember thinking it looked very tinted for a GIA G! Sure enough, it has medium YELLOW fluorescence-I think you can even see the tint in the photo under all the jeweler's lights! Glad I kept them! :kiss2:

Shoot! Have a video from ID Jewelry but too large... how do I post it??

Can you edit it to make it smaller or do a screen grab from the video? Lol! The things we learn how to do when we "have to study" diamonds!!

You need to save it to your videos first. Do you have an iPhone? If you do, "save it". Then go into your videos and pull it up. Click "edit". At the bottom you'll see a set of brackets and little frame-boxes. Put your finger on one of the brackets and move it right or left. (You'll see the video move on screen.) Decide what part of the video you want to post and then move the brackets until you see just that part of the video. You can make attempts and it won't hold until you click "save as new video", which you can do. It'll save the new clip and maintain the old clip. Then try to post it here as an attachment. Make it small so it'll take. As an alternative, you can stop the video and do a screen grab, which will create a photo. Then you can post the photo.
I can't wait to see it!
Hope this helps!

I tried! Won’t even let me post a 3 second video:Up_to_something2: but I have a feeling it is out of my price range... haven’t heard back about price

@ac117 thank you for posting all those! Will take a close look when I get home.

@Blingalingaling thanks for always chiming in and that medium yellow fluorescence-not for me. I’m too color sensitive to have something make an “I” look more yellow !

I’m posting this just because, this sold this morning at Sotheby’s for about $100,500.
It’s 10.58 cts. Guess the colour.

Nearly, it was an M :D What you can’t see is the beautiful setting, which had diamonds underneath - I should’ve tilted my hand to get it in view.

For a few moments there, I felt like a princess

Wow!!! That's an amazing EC!!! That's M-color?!? I'm curious, what were your thoughts/impressions/feelings about the color and about the stone in person? It happens to look gorgeous on your hand! :)

I was really surprised by the apparent lack of colour. I couldn’t see it in natural light, but I put it against my H colour marquise diamond, so I was comparing them in the same light source, and honestly, it wasn’t that tinted. When I read it was an M, I was expecting it to be far more tinted than it was.

I louped it, I think they said it was VVS, and I couldn’t see any inclusions, mind you, i was just enjoying having that rock on my finger for a few minutes, but it looked pretty spectacular to me.

I just passed on a J... looked yellow from video. Want to stay in the I range... but what do you guys think of this 5ct K? Would the tint be really obvious? I’m perfectly happy with I but. It sure if this would bug me as I have never seen a K in person
