What do you guys think of of this? I'm thinking of buying it to mount in a platinum ring to propose to my GF. Any thoughts would be really appreciated!

AGS 000
J VS1
57% table, 61.7% depth, 35.0 CA, 40.8 PA
thin-med girdle
9.46 - 9.52 x 5.86 mm

There's other one I'm looking at but it has no images, just the simulation:

Also AGS 000 J VS1
56.8% table, 61.7% depth, 35.0 CA, 40.7 PA
thin-med girdle
9.45 - 9.48 x 5.84 mm

Another concern I have with this one is that it has no inclusions in the diagram, just "additional clouds not shown"

Both would be stunning is my take, don't know the flouroscence on second one though...also because the clarity stated as VS1 it should be eye clean irredpirresp. Please do get videos and images of the diamond if possible or see it in person to see which one appeals better to you or if that's not possible, ask the vendor representative to vet it for you, maybe even send you a side by side comparison if the diamonds belong to the same vendor

So far, I’m Team 3.251JVS1.
As mentioned above, it’s important to see the diamond in motion, and even in person, if possible.
Seeing them next to one another for comparison would be a plus.
I love the smaller table % on 3.251JVS1, as well!! :mrgreen2:

2 very nicely cut stones, and huge too!

I also think you should try to see them in person first- a “J” in this size is bound to show some colour, I’d check that you and the very lucky GF are OK with that.

I agree with this, and I would also add that the setting that you choose will either help to accentuate the color, or hide it.

Thanks everyone for all the feedback! Definitely feeling even more excited about the first one now. I had a few possible concerns-- what do you think about the fuzziness/tearing in the H&A image, and the lighter red ring in the ASET? Are the angles borderline too steep/deep with the 35?

I'm the lucky one!! :mrgreen2: Thanks for pointing that out! We also had some concerns around the color, especially with the threads about AGS being soft on color grading. Are there any settings you would suggest, especially with this size stone and in platinum? We were thinking about the vatche u113, mark morrell, or another custom ring to flush fit with a 7 stone shared prong, and I know there are things to pay attention to there around thickness, the rings scratching, and getting the right color matching.

Having a basket or 6-8 prongs instead of 4 helps to hide color from the side. Face-up, it should still look white, and give off some interesting light variations at J color.

I have a J colored diamond, and honestly it’s sometimes too tinted looking for me. It’s a bit smaller than the one you’re looking at; mine is 2.566 carats. Mine also has medium blue fluorescence which helps the color a bit. I had a J without fluorescence a few years back, and it definitely was too tinted, and I ended trading that diamond in quickly. Both J colored diamonds I have had were AGS0 as are the two you are looking at. I think you’ll just need to see one or both of these in to know if they’re too tinted for you. My personal sweet spot in color is H, but to be honest I’ve fallen in love with my J, and it would be hard to give up my diamond and get a different one. Good luck!
