Good morning all. This is my first post here, so be gentle. :)

So, I have been shopping and shopping and shopping for diamonds to propose to my girlfriend for months and months... I am planning on proposing 6/27 at Yellowstone NP when we go on our summer vacation, so I need to buy soon. I am thinking that I''m finally going to bite the bullet either today or tomorrow.

So, I know what I want: Princess, >1ct, H or better, VS2 or better, excellent polish and symmetry, on Platinum solitaire.

I keep coming back to this diamond at James Allen:

I want to just DO IT, and buy the darn thing, but I am hesitant... $4k is not a small amount of money!

I guess what I''m looking for is some advice, some concurrence that this is a great diamond, that I''m making the right decision on it... My TOTAL budget (diamond and setting) is $5k.

Hi Treacherous,

I would ask for an Idealscope image for this diamond and see if they can get the crown height also. It is hard to tell from the photo but I have seen prettier Princess than this one but to give it the benefit of the doubt I would get an Idealscope image and some more photos if you can.

Would you like us to have a look to see what else is out there before you pull the trigger on this one? Would you consider SI clarity grades also if verified eyeclean by a trusted vendor?

Yes to both questions. I would really appreciate any help you guys can provide!

Yeah, I have a hard budget of $5k since I''m paying with real money as opposed to financing it.

I should note that I also want no flourescense.

That one looks nice, but what about the inclusions right in the center of the diamond? Those look pretty big...

The best way is to ask the vendor if the inclusions are visible in reality, you can''t get a good idea by a magnified image. The PS vendors are well used to advising clients in this capacity.

Thanks! That''s a nice diamond. I have a friend in Houston that used WF for his ring, and referred his brother there as well, and both have been very pleased. I''m willing to drive to Houston to check something like this out since with my friend''s experience, I am confident I''d get a good diamond and a good deal... just waiting for them to write back about eye cleanliness, and I''ll have to talk to them about cost...

That sounds great and if you can get to Houston to check the diamonds out at WF even better!

A personal visit to look is always a great idea, when possible. Best of luck.
