Great news!!!!

@lala646 i think that’s a great stone! I Color is so rare obviously and SI2 is no biggie esp when it’s an inclusion like that.
The cut is interesting. It’s very shallow! My 1.89ct is also shallow at like 55%. But both seem to be cut to accommodate that as there is no leakage.
What are your plans for this beauty?
I'm thinking pendant in white metal. Both of my solitaire pendants are in yellow gold, so it will be good to have something in WG or Plat.
Also, looking at it with the loupe today, there is definitely a chip on the girdle. Only visible with the loupe, as is the small feather, also on the girdle. Neither bother me in the least. Sorry for the lousy image. I find it surprisingly difficult to take photos of unset stones.

Most of these old guys have some damage.
I take pictures of my diamonds through the 20x loupe using my iPhone. Works the best to show facets.
How do you get 20X on your iPhone? I have a 15Plus and it only goes to 10X…
Still waiting on Wilhelmina (Willy) so I decided to take apart the TRR pin and focus on a different project.
Here’s what I ended up with - 2 beautifully matched OmC’s jeweler calculated them to be 1.47ctw I’m guessing J color but not an expert and definitely eye clean. 14 - 2.5-3 mm stones, 1 pretty pearl, 7.5 grams of 18k. After I sell the gold I should be into it for about $1700 including the jeweler dismantle fee. I’m happy.
I’d like to make the pearl into a ring. I think I’m saving the small stones for another ring project. And im leaning toward earrings for the 2 larger OMC’s.

Open for opinions! I was looking for a cheap cocktail ring and thought this one was worth a gamble. I thought the potential dealbreaker issue would be if the platinum metal had major signs of wear/cracking, as the listing photos suggest and description states, but it actually looks structurally fine IRL. One seemingly large crack is a hairline (does not extend to the main stone) and the other crack in the photos is totally gone, however it looks a bit more modern and “costume” than I expected (I was expecting vintage, dramatic and somewhat damaged). I wonder if someone had it repaired after the initial listing photos were taken. I have another similar jammy toned cocktail ring in my cart, as a backup; it is 14k vs platinum on the downside but the setting is a cool bombe style.

Wow I love this too! This gemstone is so juicy!
Thank you! We are on the same wavelength with jewelry, small wrists/fingers, old cuts, jammy and juicy colored stones!

I was just going to say, I love the ring but the stone is not my color. I’m blues and greens. If you love the color and it was a good price, I say keep it!
It’s beautiful! Juicy is right.

Here are some of the others I was thinking about to fill the fun cocktail ring role.
I have been looking for a dome ring- I prefer blue/green over red/pink, but the green peridot looks a little muddy/mossy in color while the pink tourmaline looks a little more retro (a plus for me) and interesting with the cabachon cut. I am starting to think that I prefer cabachon cuts for most colored stones. The setting for the emerald ring is incredible, but I am nervous about an emerald since I am not the most careful person, and also don’t know anything about emeralds (all I know is that I cannot afford a really high quality one, but is a visibly included one like this ok, or not?).![]()
I like the tourmaline the best. Someone bought the emerald and it was a color shifter. I think there are photos in the SOmeones gotta buy this thread. I like peridot too but agree the color looks swampy. maybe we’re seeing the gold coming thru since it’s at an angle?
Oh thanks for the tip about that emerald being a color shifter. I will look for the previous post. I am actually not a big emerald person because I have a fear of softer gemstones, but I love the retro setting of the cabachon one. I will keep the tourmaline on the top of my list for now, I have been looking for a dome ring with a gemstone center. I was planning to have David Klass make me one, but that has been in my mind for years now.
I am enjoying your search. I love the setting of the tourmaline ring! But prefer the color of the emerald, too. Tourmalines are equally soft, compared to emeralds. You would have to move up to spinels, chrysoberyls or sapphires to get harder than emeralds.
Thank you! That is really helpful to know. In the beginning, I was only buying diamond pieces and loose diamonds, and then later added quite a few sapphire pieces. I feel like I would like to add in more colored gemstones, but it sounds like Tourmalines will need a lot of TLC. At least they are not as expensive as emeralds if they need to be replaced by some accident.
I actually quite like chrysoberyls (probably because they are so often cabochon shape), and often in funky retro rings which are charming to me.
I used to only buy Edwardian and Deco rings, but then mid-century and retro styles started to make me just smile when I saw them also.
Isn't the setting of the tourmaline ring so dramatic? It definitely makes me smile. I will add a photo of the David Klass ring that I have been planning to make for years, but just trying to decide on the center stone.
