YAY SHAVE ICE!!!!!!

Oh, and here is my shave ice from Kauai!

(apparently it is a rule that you must take a pic of your shave ice!)

shaveiceyumyum.jpg

LL, I have THREE different pics of shave ice. I couldn't help it. I even got one with ice cream at the bottom, which wasn't as good as I thought it would be.

It's so hot in LA right now I could use a shave ice RIGHT NOW.

ETA: I think PSers are so used to picture taking, it's now ingrained in our psyche. Hm. Ingrained. That's a word, right? MS XP spell check says it is.

Oh how I miss Kauai.
I appearantly violated the rule and have no pictures of my shaved ice.
I do have to give Charger a restaurant recommendation- we loved Casa Blanca at Kiahuna, in the Poipu area.
I have to say that overall we weren''t impressed with many of the restaurants, although Bubba Burgers were incredible. The scenery and incredible weather more than make up for the mediocre food selections.
I also recommend a catamarran tour of the Na Pali coast. It was beautiful.
Oh to go back.

Welcome to all the new TTC''ers!

I feel I should confess something to you ladies.

Remember how I said I was going to eat healthily (I think that''s a word, too)? Well, I came home to a bakery box. Filled with: two red velvet/cream cheese cupcakes, three double chocolate chip cupcakes with a whipped cream filling and fudge buttercream, and one chocolate cupcake with cream cheese icing... a bag of brownie bites; rocky road (marshmallow and nuts), fudge with cream cheese icing, and a toffee cookie bar... two bags of bark: graham cracker bottoms with a layer of buttery toffee with a chocolate layer, and one with graham cracker bottom with toffee and WHITE chocolate.

I think I went into a tasty choco-loving food coma.

Amber, if it would make you feel better I''ll take the chocolate cupcake with cream cheese icing.

Tiffany, so funny, I already have a cupcake and some bark boxed up for my dad!

How are you doing today? Everything good? I must admit that once I stopped stressing about this TTC thing, I feel so amazingly uplifted. Like I can finally just enjoy every day. Although temping is a bitch when you''re just doing it for the fact sense of it. When my alarm went off at 6:10am this morning, I looked at it and literally went, "What am I looking at? OH, that''s right."

I have a stomach bug. I had to leave work yesterday because I was sick, and then threw up in the parking lot. Sorry ladies, I know that''s gross but now it does strike me as slightly funny. Anyone have any ideas on how to get puke out of leather Dansko''s??
I am much better today, but we had a night planned out of Yahtzee and chicken wings. Seriously, this bar/restaurant has the best chicken wings ever and they have Yahtzee on every table, so some friends from work meet for that every other Friday. And tonight I have to miss it. However, I am super excited about the opening ceremonies for the Olympics so I guess I''ll just couch potato is out and enjoy some tv.

So, now everyone at work thinks I''m pregnant because I was puking. Which really makes it worse that that''s the first thing they think. Monday I''m having a hystosalpingiogram to see if the right tube is open. I think it will be but this will confirm it. After that we''ll see what we decide to do. I have heard many stories of women getting pregnant right after that so we''ll see. Maybe the dye pushes the little spermy to where they need to go??
However, if I decide to see a RE the ONLY one covered by my insurance is freaky weird, and everyone I know has petitioned the insurance (successfully) to see someone else. So I have the name of a good one but I have to get my insurance company to approve it. But I''m not there yet, and hopefully won''t have to be.

Amber, I totally hear you on all the emotions you expressed. I was MIA on here after AFF showed up last week for some of the same reasons. (also work was super busy and I was super sleepy) I''m glad you are still hanging around. It is so emotionally draining month after month. I''ll be so happy when I don''t have to wake up every morning at 5 to temp!!!

I''ll take a red velvet, please.

Seriously, I wish there were more cupcake places in Boston. I found one that''s ok (very pretty presentation), but the icing is too much!

I love love love shaved ice. Oh yum, I miss the west coast...

Would you believe that I JUST messaged DH that we need to move to Hawaii tomorrow!

I miss it so darn much. The eats on Kauai are not the best...but man, I think everything else makes up for it. And Charger - you are going at the same time we went. It was sooooo lovely and uncrowded. Sigh. Want to move there.

Amber - I have two other pictures of the shave ice. Ya know, different ices need to be documented! DH got one with cream on top...it was pretty darn good too.

And holy bakery box batman!!! I can''t have that stuff around the house because, well, it will get eaten, by me, far too quickly. A while back I told DH I was going to start eating healthily (it is a word in my book) or would it be more healthfully? I have no idea. Anyhoodle, he says that''s great and goes to pick up some dog food. He comes home with the dog food and a box of chocolate chip muffins from my favorite bakery! I could have killed him! I asked him what he was thinking and he said that he saw them and knew I''d like them, so he got them. Argh. Of course, DH is 6''3" and weighs like 175. Fully clothed. With shoes. He eats darn near whatever he wants and doesn''t gain a pound. He used to weigh around 160-165, but he quit smoking last July 31, and porked up to 175. His metabolism fills me with rage.

Also, good to see you TT! Napali coast was one of my favorite things about Kauai.

Awww, Tiffany. Stomach bugs are not cute. Especially when one has to throw up while visiting her best friend''s extended family who she has never met before at Thanksgiving. Yeah, that was fun. "Thanks for inviting me! Food''s great. OOP. Excuse me one sec, I''ve got to- **HORF** I''ll um, just show myself out."

I wish you the best best luck for getting a non-weirdo doctor. I totally understand that- my own doctor was so cold I chose a different doctor- even though it was a man instead of a woman!

LL, see- DH does the EXACT SAME THING. It kills me that he buys all this healthy stuff for himself, and since he knows I much more prefer baked goods, he''ll bring me baked goods instead. I know it''s sweet and all, but come on. It''s like when we go to eat. He''s 6''2" and 300lbs (football), and he eats all the food on his plate, and exchanges his clean plate for my mostly full (OCD eater <------) one. Then eats a few bites and leaves it on his side. People come to take the plates and are like, "Wow, you were really hungry!" He just laughs. Har har.

YUM Shave ice and cupcakes (red velvet, please!) my tummy is grumbling!

THANKS for the pics, and food recommendations- I''m adding them to my Kauai list. I too have heard that the cuisine is kinda meh, but that the scenery makes up for it. And yep- we have the same blue guidebook, Amber!

LL- We usually vacation in late September/October to avoid the crowds, so this is a bit early for us. glad to hear that we''re going at a good time- we were kinda worried about that. I''m sure that the blah economy isn''t helping Hawaii tourism.

Tiffany- are you feeling better? I kinda have a weird tummy thing going on too- and not just ''cause it''s hungry. I was in NYC for biz meetings and flew home (to L.A) yesterday. Flying always does a number on my tummy. Glad that my road warrior days are over!

Lisa, so you were 37.5 when Olivia was concieved? Gives me hope! We''ve put off TCC-ing for now, but I know I can''t hold off for too much longer...
Charger AHHHH....I do feel better knowing that you are my vintage.....

Yes, 37.5 and we tried for 2 mos. w/ the one golden ovary!

The most imp. thing re fertility is your age!!! Oh and major issues like having 1 working ovary!!

At this pt. all my eggs could be cracked so I hope this 5 wk pg. sticks.

Remember that if "it" doesn''t happen by 6 mos. go to the specialist or have the OB start the testing.

Each cycle is a precious one. Especially after 35.

Amber lovin'' the pics....

hehe- what a great way to put it, Lisa! THANKS for the TTC advice.
Now we just have to do it (I''m the one putting it off

My mom gave birth to me at 38, and my brother at 40, so i''m hoping that things will work out

sending sticky vibes your way!

Thanks for all the birthday wishes - I had a lovely day and DH took me out to a new Japanese place in the evening which was as good as its reviews.

Tonight we had our post-wedding London party, with the same pianist who played at our wedding (I found him through this venue). It was a really nice evening and loads of people dropped in who we hadn''t seen in ages so that was fun.

To put the cherry on the cake, I drew the USA in the Olympic Sweepstake at work, so I''ll be cheering you guys on. (Mind you, there''s a handicap system, so I start 120 points behind nearly every other country - so you''d better be good this time!).

So, today is CD 22. Since I''m always on 27 days, and the POAS tests I have say you can test 5 days before AF is due, that means tomorrow. It would put me a probable 9/10 DPO.

If your cycle is shortish like mine, does that mean you need to test later on the people with longer ones? I have seen lots of people on other boards waiting for 14 DPO or longer to test. 14 days would put me over my normal cycle length.

Why do I have no patience????

That is so exciting! Waiting until 14 DPO would be a ridiculous feat. You have PLENTY of patience -- you waited til 5 days before your period!

Pandora, no need to wait longer, but the longer you wait the more likely you are to receive a valid result. At this point it is early, so it is VERY possible that even if you are PG you might still get a neg. at this point. So no harm in testing early, but make sure to test again if you actually miss your period even if you get a neg this time around!

Doesn''t the waiting have something to do with the length of your luteal phase, and not just your cycle? You''ll have to excuse me since I never did become well versed in TTCing, but all I know is that I tested 10 or 11 DPO (hard to say when O was, really, since I wasn''t the most rigorous charter), and got a super definite BFP.

Might as well test now, Pandora, and then again right after AF is due to arrive. I hope you had some sashimi for your birthday. Last night we went out for sushi, but all I had were some veggie rolls...

Charger, ur mom''s fertility is actually a very good indicator of yours according to my RE (repro. endo.).

My mom had her last kid at 42 so he was optomistic despite the 1 ovary challenge.

Pandora - Wow, very impressed by the patience! Pee and then pee some more. I''m all for shameless, uncontrollable urination whenever and as much as possible.
I accept my complete lack of discipline and do my best to enable others. Please ignore me.

If u have a short LP then that usually means (not always) that u prob. O earlier than most.

I have a 25-26 day cycle and my stick was + on 11 dpo. Before I skipped AF. If it''s - then u may be a late implanter w/ less HCG to detect.

Aaaammber,

This isn't TTC-related, but it might help cheer you up a bit. I was looking for a birthday present for myself (diamonds, of course, as DH hates buying diamonds) and I came across this. I know you like ladybugs, so it made me think of you!

Roberto Coin Ladybug Pendant

The little red stones are rubies.

And to add something TTC-related so I don't get in trouble...

Today is my first day of Clomid (CD 5). I'm so nervous.
32.gif

Awww, Ebree! That''s so nice of you! The link didn''t work, but now I''m out searching for it! Thanks!

Good luck with the Clomid, I''ve really heard nothing but fantastic things about it.

Ebree, can you say "One year anniversary/birthday gift"? Now I''m kind of glad our wedding is two days before my birthday!

Oh Pandooooora, any news in the POAS department?

Anybody else almost done knitting?

Ebree, exciting about the clomid! I have a good friend who lost two embryos in a row at around 7 wks (though she didn''t find out they hadn''t made it till the u/s at 11wks), and she''s now on Try #3 and is 5 months along! So hopefully this will be your lucky go too.

I am cheering, hoping, and praying for you.

Thank you, Indy! I'm also hoping the third time's the charm. I chickened out and halved my dosage myself (I was prescribed 50mg, but only took 25mg), which I had discussed with my doctor before. I had scared myself reading all of the side effects, and since doc told me we could start with 25mg a day initially, I just felt more comfortable going that route. I AM ovulating on my own (with a fabulous progesterone level: 23.1 at 7 DPO last cycle- 25+ means probably pregnant!), so the Clomid is just to help create a better, stronger egg.

Heaps and heaps of baby dust to you Ebree! I really hope this is your winning ticket. :)

I''m knitting away dillegently. I''m expecting AFF this Friday (so I''ve got 5 whole more days to go...) but I have to admit that I have ZERO pg signs. sigh. Last time I got PG I implanted on 10DPO, which is today, so I''m not going to rule it out just yet...but...I''m not going to get my hopes up this cycle.

GL Pandora!! Get Peeing!
27.gif
Fingers crossed for you!

Amber and Ebree - about the ladybugs. I too love them!!! When we first bought our house we kept finding them all over the house! Apparently, they are a sign of good luck. We used them a little in our wedding theme too. Ironically, it wasn''t a ladybug that made an appearance at our wedding, but a hummingbird!! It flew into the dining room though the open door and started ''drinking'' from my DH''s boutenierre (during my Mom''s speach). We like to believe that it was my late Grandmother (nonna) making an appearance. Anyways, yesterday was our 1 year wedding anniversary. We had agreed to exchange paper only as gifts, but DH surprised me with a ruby and diamond band! (what a guy). He said he wanted to get me a Hummingbird pendant, but couldn''t find one, so he settled on the ring instead. So cute! If you ever come across a hummingbird pendant, I''m sure my DH would be inteterested
2.gif

Off to home depot! We are getting granite countertops installed tuesday. I''m so excited!

I''m still knitting too... but no high hopes. I feel no s/s, but AFF is scheduled to hit Friday. I am going to test Thurs, as it is DH''s bday that day, and MIL is coming Friday so I''d rather find out if possible when it''s just DH and I around.

GL to you Mela!

Pandora... poas! poas! poas!

Sorry, was away over the weekend and no Internet access.

So, if this month is as the last six, AF is due on the 14th, I'm probably about 9/10 DPO. So, I POAS this morning and... BFN.

So, told DH it was a no, and bawled my eyes out for an hour in the car. God knows why, because I wasn't really planning to try at all this month, but there we are.

We went to have lunch with some friends, and I spent most of the time in their bathroom trying not to throw up. So, now I'm feeling confused.

I have (*)(*) that hurt like crazy, feel like I'm going to be sick half the time and a BFN.

At least I'll be put out of my misery on Thursday.

I feel like I must be mentally inventing things, but this morning I was so sure it was a definite, definite no and now I just don't know...

Pandora you crazy kid! Just cause you got a negative 9 or 10 DPO does NOT mean you're not pregnant and is DEFINITELY not worth crying over. Statistically, there's a 60% false negative rate at that stage. Just wait two days and try again, honey! Even if your luteal phase is short, that doesn't necessarily mean you implanted earlier. You may have only implanted, like, 2 or 3 days ago and there's not enough hormone yet. Seriously. The only BFN to cry about is 16 DPO. Then you can be pretty sure it's a definite no, but until then, you gotta hope, expecially if you're feeling pukey. That was my clue to test.

Don't give up hope!!!!
