The March 24, 2015 crash of the Germanwings airbus in the French Alps has been featured prominently in the news this week. I listened to the French prosecutor in Marseille speak in French about what was heard on the voice recording from the cockpit and hearing it in French (which meant having to struggle to understand it) and hearing it orally rather than in print made it very vivid to me. Ever since then this crash has been more personal to me than others have been. I keep looking at the newspapers for information on what caused the co-pilot to kill all those people. I want to know what his diagnosis was!

Such an awful tragedy. This specific model of Airbus has the highest safety profile regarding crashes so that makes this tragedy even more ironic if you can call it that. Awful awful awful. My heart goes out to all the victims and their families.

This is one of the reasons I hate flying. Too many aspects one cannot control. No matter how safe the vehicle you are in is all you need is one crazy/mentally disturbed person in control and it's all out the window. In the USA I understand that we have another qualified person in the cockpit to fly the plane in addition to the copilot so there are always at least 2 people capable of flying the plane should the pilot have to leave the cockpit for no matter how short a time. So that might have prevented that tragedy from occurring here but IMO it is only a matter of time for a crazy person to figure out a new way to cause massive destruction and death. :( :( :(

And for all those who are going to jump in and say hey this could happen in a car or as a pedestrian (someone crazy driving their car into people walking or driving etc.) yes sure. This could happen anywhere and no one is 100% safe even just staying in their homes. I mean a tree could fall onto the house and kill you. It has happened before and will happen again. I am just explaining why I hate to fly because of the lack of control we have whereas in the other situations that might also hold true there is little I can do about that but I can control whether I fly or not...

I am so sad for the families who lost their children, spouses, sisters, brothers, mothers and fathers. What a terrible incident and it is hard to fathom the evil that exists in this world. An accident is one thing but something like this so very hard to comprehend. :nono: ;(

makes me angry.
want to commit suicide?
I have no problem with that: go rent a plane and crash if you want.
but those other people didn't get to choose!
he is a murdering, self-centered bully and nothing more.
if there is a Hell may he rot in it.
RIP to all who perished and may the families find peace in some way.
