The Lost Sapphire has been FOUND!

Once Upon a Time there was a sapphire engagement ring.

It was a dark navy, 1.88 carat with a halo of small diamonds….

But OH! IT WAS GIVEN WITH LOVE, AND IT WAS LOVED.

Fast forward through 20+ years of WEDDED BLISS to Sweet DH, and the sapphire was mistakenly tossed out in construction debris by her owner.
Silly Owner! ETA: it was ME that threw it out. I take full blame for idiotic behavior!

So LS searched and searched for “THE ONE”. Some were too big, or too small; some were too light or too dark; some were too deep or too shallow.

Then one day Lost Sapphire found Jeff White (a.k.a. Cutter Extraordinaire!).

He suggested a round, not an oval. And LS fell head over heels for the blue lusciousness.

On the left is the native cut, 2.86ct. On the right is the recut, 2.04 of blue bliss! (on the back of Mrs Jeff’s hand….)

So LS sent JW her money and the stone was ‘put on the bus’ (figuratively speaking) to the capable hands of Lesley, Vera, Joe, Leon and Bob at Whiteflash.

Lesley and Joe said: “OOOOH, such arrows” and proceeded to find melee and BIG Pears for the sapphire.

Joe went to work calculating out the melee, using Leon’s Ruby Cluster as LS’s “inspiration” for the top of the ring.

Joe and Lost Sapphire had an exciting live “webinaire” session where they finalized the wireframe CAD drawings, making minor changes to the design and adding a few special touches to show off the sapphire.

And the final CADs were approved! The ring incorporated
Something old: 2-tone YG and platinum similar to the original.
Something new: A round sapphire with Pear sidestones (BIG PEARS!) and RB melee.

And IT WAS GOOD! Sweet DH was thrilled that the “upgrade” was also respectful of the original e-ring, while incorporating a new design.

So after an agonizing wait, a WF ‘teaser pic’ was e-mailed to LS.
And IT WAS GOOD!

AND THAT WHICH WAS LOST HAS NOW BEEN FOUND!

Here are the specs:
2.04 ct Sri Lankan Sapphire recut by Jeff White, 7.6mm diameter
8 x .10 cts round melee stones (ACA’s by WF)
2 x .34 cts pears (ACA’s by WF)
Custom setting by Whiteflash

WOO HOO!

Oh yeah, I learned something today about taking macro shots of your finger:

If you lick your finger just before taking the pic, the hair doesn''t show up in the photograph! (or at least, most of it!!)
