I really dont know... I just didnt want her to lose her spot if she wanted it. If she says more and/or doesnt come back soonish, I will just take her off? The thread was confusing to me, I tried to parse out some thoughts on adding/not adding and my brain just hurt.

I'm at #13 already.. I have to change that # I think I'm getting off at. I'm going to have to say #10 now. I def think LJL is going to get engaged before I do.. and with Caprine/Glitz/Titian all soon to be engaged with their rings all ready to go….. #10 might be a good guestimate.

I too am predicting major LIW-itis in the upcoming months. As some may remember last year, I always have a difficult time around the holidays, when it seems EVERYONE is getting engaged, all the ring commercials are excruciating, and so forth.

Can I join? I'm going to be pretty down in the dumps the next few months too I think. I'd suspected #14 would be my number, but I can't honestly believe I'm already #20. Knowing that 7 of the ladies above me could have the potential to be off by the end of the year, it's not looking good.

major *e-hugs* all around.

What I hate the most is that I can't even talk about it IRL. Whenever anything bothers me, SO is who I talk to. I have very few friends that I keep close contact with anymore, since the post-High School drift, and then again after the post-college drift. And out of those friends that I do still keep contact with, one has been in a 10+ year relationship that has shown no hope for an engagement anytime soon, two are planning their weddings so it's not good that they hear me talk about ME ME ME, and the others are always so busy that I rarely see them, so I prefer to stay on happier notes when we do meet.

I've tried talking to that friend with the 10+ year relationship, and I just felt guilty like hell, so I shut up quick. When we went looking at stones with JbEG, she texted me to ask what I was doing, and I sent her a photo of a diamond on my hand. Her reaction was less than excited, so I think it's hurting her for me to be talking about relationship/marriage/engagement stuff.

This weekend's movie? Garden State.
Dessert? I'm in the mood for a warm brownie with vanilla ice cream.

I'm sorry to hear from so many down LIWs. Many virtual hugs to you all! I find the holiday season has the opposite effect on me - buying presents, crafts, secret santa, christmas cookies, dressing up, family time! I get really into it, and 'forget' about LIW stuff.

Ugh. I totally know what you mean. My friends are all at different stages in life... a couple are no where near getting engaged and arent thrilled with hearing about it... a few are married and are sort of been-there-done-that... and then a few have babies and I feel guilty for boring them with the topic.

So... that leaves you all!

I think a really warm chocolate chip cookie and ice cream sounds fab. SO got Sherlock Holmes from Netflix... I think I need a girly movie though... something like The Notebook...

Oh lord, I hear ya on that!
I have very few friends these days, too. The typical "grown apart, moved on, outgrown each other" deal. The ones I do manage to talk to on a semi-regular basis are :
1) the divorced bff since eighth grade, with an eight year old child,
2) the engaged bff (since eight grade again).... going on four years. YES, four years.

(Why'd they get engaged in the first place to have such a LT engagement? She says it's due to money, yeah, I get that. But just go to the flippin' court house and then have the "real wedding" when you can).
3) a pre-menopausal coworker with five children ages 12-22, and a drunk for a hubby
4) my younger sister who is looking at a ten-year wedding anniversary in February.

None of the above understand LIW-itis, and therefore, would probably write me off as a psychopath and never speak to me again if I even began to spill my guts. Except for my sister, as she has no choice.

It's frustrating. I don't even have a dog I can cry to (or cat, I suppose.....)

B*tch and cry all you want, girlie. That's what we're here for.

Oh, and as for your friend with the 10+ year relay.... man, oh man, props to her for sticking it out so long, but no hopes for engagement in the near future?!? Is she okay with that? I mean, not every girl wants to get married, and I respect that. I just hope she's happy, and if not..... I hope she finds the strength to find happiness elsewhere, if it comes down to it.

I think we are all lucky to have found virtual LIW friends!

In my opinion worse than IRL friends who aren't appropriate to talk to, I have a friend who ALWAYS drags up the topic of my LIW status! It drives me nuts. She is completely dumbfounded as to why SO and I aren't married yet after 'so long' and 'being in our mid-twenties' and 'even though you aren't married, he DOES love you'. I have to say, feeling sorry for my 'not knowing whats going to happen in the future' is super annoying. I believe Bridget Jone's calls these kinds of people Smug Married? = Perfect description.

And woah, 10 years!

Yeah, my friend in the 10 year thing is.. well, 10 years is long. But they've been together since HS, so it's not THAT long, I guess? We're just starting to enter the mid twenties, where the pressure gets turned on. So regardless of the fact that they've been together a long time, they're still.. at a young age?

Is that how you explain it? Either way, I don't like to see her feel uncomfortable, so I'll spare her my LIW drama.

Most people our age are not self supporting, yet. Half of them have podunk jobs that pay near minimum wage, and still live at home.. and SoCal's cost of living is so high that a 30k/year job doesn't even get you a decent living. Others still are paying off student debt. I'm lucky my SO is done with paying off his tuition, and is making an income. My friend's not wearing the same shoes. I'm not wearing those same shoes. I'm just fortunate, I guess. W/O my SO's income, I wouldn't afford food or tuition. It's just a sucky time right now.

Hm, I still haven't watched the Bridgette Jones diary. I think I need to watch it one of these next few weeks, with a big ol tub of mint and chip ice cream. If SO doesn't propose soon, I'll gain a lot of weight from my movies and dessert marathons.

Ahh, that makes sense then. Well, even more kudos for her sticking around that long. People change so drastically after high school, and even well into their twenties. If I had met M ten, or even five years ago, I probably wouldn't have given him the time of day.
I hope things continue to go well for her.

And Bridget Jones' Diary is awesome. Love that flick. I could be in the crappiest mood, and by the end, I'm laughin' and have forgotten why I was sad to begin with.
