Oh yeah I take no offense. I think that a 3 page thread on a forum shows at least that I helped at least a few of you pass the time with some chuckles.

Lopsy fuggs... well.. he went home today. The seller is sending me all of my money back.

Oh and as for the pics: I used a 4 year old digi which cost me $80 THEN. I only threw out one blurry, so I did it all on one shot a piece. It's very easy to take these pics if you hav one of those cams that select the object to focus on. The last 2 pics were taken just by holding a loupe up to my lense!

Anyways I am going to try to get everything taken care of. My new price point is $3000 for the ring mounted in a $200 cathedral band. I'll check the local vendors. I've looked at many many stones. I know that what Kay wanted $3500 for out the door (mounted, with the sizing and setting "plan"), Fred Meyer wanted $5500 for- both were darn decent- sparkled, looked decent, proportional, and I finally pried my girlfriend's band off of her to take it with me for matching it side by side... nonetheless, for a little town that I live in- we have like a dozen diamond shops... and I actually found a few decent fellas.

well I am that much closer... life's a garden, dig it?

Sorry for your bad experience... And I am an Ebayer too, so I''m glad you posted this. It is a true thing, if you want a nice diamond, you need to pay a nice price. I also commend you on your bravery, there can be some serious Know-It-Alls out there, but these guys are great! Some good teachers on this site lol. Now we all know how right they are! Good luck with you future purchases.

Bahahaha!!! You only have 30 posts at the moment and you are probably well on your way to become a Pricescope legend! This is hilarious!

Good for you for keeping your sense of humor. I saw this diamond and immediately named it "Sloth" after that character from the Goonies movie. I felt sorry for it and thought it might have had heart until I saw the non idealscope photos.

Glad Fugly Loppy Sloth was sent packin''!

And Drew, I hope you don't take offense to our banter about your stone. You seem to have a great sense of humor. This is the most fun I've had in a thread. I really do adore your stone, and I hope you'll keep it. Its uniqueness is what makes it beautiful.

I will miss Lopsie Fugs if you have to send him back.

...who would waste the time to cut this stone?
33.gif
IT PROBABLY DID'NT TAKE LONG?
Thanks Drew. It serves as a warning to many thousands of people who search things like 'is it safe to by a diamond on ebay'
you will note that on many such searches that Pricescope comes up very high, so what your contriibution does is shows that the buyers in droves will be more aware.

It also makes a mockery of all the vendors who say they cant take a photograph thru an ideal-scope, which is code often for 'this is a really nice diamond, why don't you trust me?'

thanks, and thanks for you good nature

Drew, you have such a wonderful, positive attitude. I hope that you will stick around Pricesope for a little while. As sad as I am to hear that Lopsie Fugs went back to his owner, I am happy that you were able to get a full refund. Lopsie is a Pricescope Legend, and will never be forgotten.
face23.gif

Don''t forget, there are plenty of Pricescope recommended online vendors who would also be happy to help you with your next search. They are recommended not because of their popularity, but because of their consistently dependable service. And as others have mentioned, we would be happy to help you along the way.

Please keep us posted!

I will miss you dearly, Lopsie!

Some of us "older" jewelry industry guys remember back in the day when cut wasn''t an issue and was hardly ever mentioned.

Drewbot, thanks for sharing Mr. Fugly diamond and reminding all of us..that for some..Cut is STILL
never mentioned.

Wonder why?

Good luck in your search for the diamond of your dreams.

LOPSIE FUGS... omg... roflmbo.... hadn''t seen this post before... lololol.... platinumrock - you crack me up.... drewbot... blessing on your search... i was laughing out loud at work!

Thanks guys! Just to let you know- lopsie arrived at home today. I''m still searching- and I used Pricescope to ask for quotes from the vendors on the site. I''m looking for some type of decent, not so lopsie, and not so fugs, diamond that is about 6.2 mm diameter +/- about .1mm, SI1-SI2 or a good I1 so long as no visible inclusiions are living on the table or crown, or nothing big on the girdle that cant be hidden by a prong.

My girlfriend and I looked at many-a-diamond yesterday - and she can spot a feather on the surface from 5 feet away, but I1 diamonds with inclusions in the middle were fine to her- she felt that the really clean VS1+ rocks looked almost fake against her ring.. She shot down the stone I picked out for her (unknowingly) due to a problem on the crown that was obvious to her but no to me. I got some response from vendors, but havent found anything quite yet. I asked for a price of about $2500... so they are of course offering me stuff at around $3000 and VS1 clarity. G-I in color seems about right for me. High fluorescence looks wierd. The band MUST be a 4MM 6 prong 14k gold "cathedrall" style. It would be great to find a vendor with one of those hanging aruond! Otherwise, I have a friend-of-a-friend who is the jewler for Fred Meyers who will do this "freelance" for me.

....off to work to pay for this thing!

LOVE that G stone!
Thanks, it ticks most of the boxes!! JA also has an upgrade policy which could be useful in the future if Drew's young lady might like a larger diamond!

I don''t know a lot about diamonds unlike the rest of the folks posting here, but if you''re not set on the idea of an ideal diamond you might want to check out some of the "traditional" cuts on Goodoldgold.com like this one to get more size.

You learned something( that what sometimes seems to good to be true probably is). Sometimes people do find amazing bargains but there are a lot of people on Ebay that misrepresent jewelry, diamonds, and gemstones. I hope you don''t lose any money on it and that you find the perfect stone soon :)

Lopsie Fugs is like the Charlie Brown Christmas tree - but somehow ''platinumrock'' became Charlie Brown. If all us PSers do the Snoopy Dance, while listening to Linus'' piano will Lopsi grow up into a little beautiful H and A Ideal Diamond?

Lopsie Fugs is very good. You love him, but what would you PAY for him?

*chortles* @ only comes out at night.

*Hangs her head in shame*

Sorry, Fugs. I love you but I wouldn't pay for you.
face14.gif

It's not you...it's me.

Okay Platinum - now you have to come over and clean up my laptop - you just made me spit Diet Coke all over the screen!!!!!

Lopsie Fugs Lopsie Fugs Lopsie Fugs Lopsie Fugs Lopsie Fugs Lopsie Fugs!!!

Sorry, Jodie! I'll help you clean up your laptop if you promise to post more pics of your M
31.gif
Deal! LOL. I have two crappy pictures of it..... I'll post them on the "Show me your M's Thread"........

PS: I was on the Skytrain (Vancouver rapid Transit) today coming in to work and remembered this thread. Started laughing. It was slightly embarassing...... (when I think of "Lopsy Fugs" now I picture Eddie Murphy playing that old lady in "The Nutty Professor" "Hercules! Hercules! Hercules!" and she's clapping her hands together.....
- Jodie -

LOL! Thanks Drew for your humorous contribution to pricescope. Answering the burning question what an ebay diamond looks like under an idealscope.
Would that girdle be called extra thick?

Drew, I''m glad to hear that Lopsie made it home safely. Hahaa..."not so lopsie" and "not so fugs". I love it! It''s great that your GF is more forgiving with clarity. You will be able to expand your choices. Is she color sensitive?

Wink, that comment about Fred Cuellar and the wavy girdle is priceless!!!! LMAO!

Debshine, I''m glad you''re having fun on this thread!
11.gif
We owe it all to Drew for sharing his beloved Lopsie with us. He''s gone, but he will never be forgotten.
face16.gif
Tell me more about Charlie Brown and the Christmas Tree!

Jodie, your post made me smile!!
face23.gif
Maybe Lopsie will find the right owner and get discovered for his "uniqueness". He''ll get his 15 minutes of fame and write a book called, "What Debeers Doesn''t Want You To Know: The Lopsie Fugs Story". And it all started at Pricescope!
22.gif

Ewwwww!! That''s terrifying! Thanks for the heads up!

lmao... "debeers.... what they DONT want you to know...."
