Argh, I''m off to work my son''s school book fair for 2 hours. WHILE EVERYONE WILL START SEEING ELECTION RESULTS!!!! I''m going to be a wreck. I knew I should have learned to check the internet with my phone. I''m so 1990.

Irishgrrrl, I''m so glad once again you started s good-natured political thread!!

I''m a registered independent who has been donating a fair amount of time and money to one of the candidates, so I''m on pins and needles about tonight. (It''s an interesting sensation because I like both of the men who ran greatly-- such a difference from 2004!) We''re scheduled to attend a big celebration bash here in L.A. this evening... assuming our chosen candidate wins.

I''m not sure if this counts for anything, but it was reported that as of 11A.M. traditionally democrat-voting Los Angeles County voting was up (from 27% to 35%) this year in comparison to 2004; republican-leaning Orange County to the south had its voter turnout decline from 25% to 21%. One can extrapolate that things will bode well for Obama, but only time will tell.

Does anyone else have anecdotal advance indicators where they live?

I''m glad I saw this thread. I may be able to check in from time to time. Here in Virginia our television set is in a room adjacent to the one where I have a computer. My daughter and I will be watching the election returns on TV. My husband and daughter will want to eat, of course, but the kitchen table is between the TV and the computer! My husband said that he won''t stay up. He got up early today to vote and I think he fears that Barack Obama (my candidate, but not his) will win, too. I hope to see you all later back here!

Me too....

I went to the Mall today (had to do something to keep my mind off of everything today) and there were Obama signs in half of the medians around the mall and in the area around my house (I didn''t go very far). I didn''t see ANY new McCain signs.

I''m making gnocchi for dinner tonight! (To try to calm down...)
