Which is just as bad, because this tells me that these congressmen have no guiding principles and merely operate on a transactional level. It means these guys could all be bought and have been bought. It means they are actively undermining (perhaps permanently) the people’s confidence in the FBI or Justice Department. They are smearing Mueller’s name and work with claims that they know damn well are false — for what? For another two years in office? They don’t deserve to be in Congress and I hope their constituents eventually realize that.
I agree with this. And in some cases, the members of Congress have as a guiding principle: greed. They want to please their donors by delivering a tax bill that will line the pockets of their ultra-wealthy campaign donors. Then the campaign donors will keep giving to them. These Republican Congressmen and Senators have pledged to deliver this bill and needed a Republican in The White House to sign it. Donald Trump was supposed to be the willing stooge to sign Republican bills. He wasn't supposed to be as much trouble to mainstream Republicans as he became. Now if The Republicans want someone to sign the "tax cut" (for the ultra-wealthy), they need to keep Trump in The White House to sign it. If Mueller discredits him and he gets impeached, their legislation gets jeopardized. That's transactional, too. Being willing to make deals with Trump is, in my opinion, not too different from being willing to make deals with Ray Moore. You lie down with dogs and white Nationalists and get up with fleas and charges of molesting women.
